Very fun!
Very fun. I bought this for my 8 year old. He uses it a lot. It's different from remote control cars and stuff. This is more unique. It truly is a robot. The remote control is easy to use. I even like it!!

A COOL R/C, It is very fun to play with for sure!
This is a fun toy. I did wear out the 9 volt though, because I left it on for a few days....oops. I actually did it on purpose to see how long it would last without getting signals from the remote. 3 days. So not bad. Real easy to work and use. I believe a child 8 yrs and older could use this with no problem. I LOVE gadgets and R/C toys. I gave it 3 stars only because I have had remotes that do a bit more at this price. This is a NICE remote though and a good buy still!

Fun RC Bug
I will start by saying I'm not sure why Amazon lists this as "Innovation First Giant Spider." This is the Hex Bugs Spider XL. I believe that Innovation First is the company behind Hex Bugs, so the name Amazon has is technically not wrong, but it doesn't match up with what you find in stores. So, if your son, daughter, wife, husband, mom, or dad has asked for a Hex Bugs Spider XL, then this is what they are talking about.I ordered the Spider XL and it arrived very quickly, as is par for the course with Amazon. The packaging was nice, shaped like a hexagon with the bug and the remote both visible through clear windows on the "front" of the package. I thought it was very nice looking, as well.I quickly set about taking it out of the box, and found that everything seemed to come apart and go back together well. It was easy to get the batteries into the Spider and it's remote, and then easy to put them back together. I fired up the Spider XL, and quickly found that everything seemed to work just fine...but it was "backwards." What I mean by that is my Spider, when trying to press forward on the remote, would go backwards. Likewise when I pressed back, it would move forward.I'm a pretty seasoned RC hobbyist, so I figured that the servo or whatever runs the bug must be plugged in backwards, or at worst the servo inside it has one of the gears mounted on it incorrectly. So I set about trying to take the Spider apart, and quickly realized that I wasn't going to be able to get it done without potentially damaging the device, which then would have made me feel uncomfortable about returning it for a replacement.I used it for a few minutes, figuring at the very least even when moving backwards, I could get an idea of how it worked. I then reluctantly packaged it up and sent it back to Amazon, only to have another one on my doorstep in a few days. The first one was red...the replacement was blue. There are these two colors, and it seems that Amazon just sends you a random one, which isn't a big deal to me. I actually liked the blue one better. This one was taken out right away, and this one worked just fine. It moved the directions I commanded it to, and did so with an authority that seemed to make both of my cats fairly nervous. They were curious about the Spider, but ultimately whenever he would get close to one of them, they would dart off.The Spider moved about very well on hardwood floors, tile floors, and VERY short carpet. When you get him into thicker, deeper carpet, he starts to have some trouble moving. He seems to generally be able to still move, but his legs get caught up a bit which causes him to not really move in the direction that you want him to move.He also moves well outside on flat and hardpacked surfaces. He did fine in the driveway, on the sidewalk, and in the street. He also did fine on hard packed dirt. Obviously, he didn't do very well on grass. He moves around with a really neat look. The legs walk just as you would think that they should, and it is cool to watch it move.Range seems a bit spotty on the transmitter, however, my 9 volt battery in the transmitter is only registering about 5.5 volts at rest, so it's probably in need of a new battery, and even if the range is just an issue, there's no external antenna on the bug and it still gets a good bit away before it loses it's signal. I'm guessing battery, though. Another thing is that he seems actually fairly loud for how small he is...you're not going to be using him to sneak up on anyone, that's for sure.Overall, after my initial problem, this new one has been working flawlessly and has no issues at all. I plan on possibly making a camera mount to put on top of it, then seeing if it can walk around with my iPhone recording video...should make for some interesting footage, from the angle it sits at and the way it moves.Cool toy.

Missing the controller. Product package was damaged.
First I would like to say that the picture includes a remote control, this I did not receive. The package was damaged, though it was not amazon's package but the actual product package that was damaged. So I'm not sure who is at fault for my lack of satisfaction or to whom I need to present this issue. I will be attempting to resolve this issue.

Great Toy for a 9 Year Old Boy!
Such a fun and fascinating toy for my 9-year old grandson at Christmas this year! He enjoyed using the remote control and watching the little spider stomp its way around the year with its rolling gait. This toy will not stand up to rough usage, so it would not be good for young children who like to throw and/or drop things. For older kids, this is great!

It is amazing. Really very innovative Remote control bug simulation
I got the hexbug spider XL (65% bigger than the regular version of normal hexbug spider) with discount in Rs. 1234.It is amazing. Really very innovative Remote control bug simulation. (P.S it is not a toy. It is a very durable mechanical device. i already accidentally dropped it from 3 feet and nothing happened)Requires 3 AA batteries in the head of the spider and 1 9V battery for the remote instead of small button cells which go in the normal hexbug spider so i think this version is anytime better than the smaller version. The Scarab XL and Strandbeast XL are also good RC robots. Do check them out as well.

Total cooles Teil
Hat mein Sohn zum neunten Geburtstag bekommen - hat sich sehr sehr gefreut! Echt cooles Teil, mal 'ne Alternative zu den R/C Autos. Preis auch ok, kostet im Geschäft 10 Euro mehr.

Its a very good toy but the main issue is battery consumption
Its a very good toy but the main issue is battery consumption, I had to replace toy batteries 2 times in a day, company should provide a rechargeable battery inside the toy.
