Auto Meter 2204 Mounting Cup

I bought this item to mount a Cyberdyne ambient temperature gauge inside my Xterra. I needed something that was adaptable since I wasn't sure where I would end up mounting it.Other reviewers have said this is plastic. It's not. The base is a solid piece of steel and the screws attach the clamp securely to the base, holding it in the desired position without much chance of slipping. It has a fairly wide range of swivel around the axle, so as to obtain the desired angle of viewing.The housing is also a good quality steel. It has a fairly large hole at the back with a rubber grommet for feeding the wires through. There is also a long, wide slot from that hole along one side to the front, so the clamp can get a good grip on the meter.I'm very pleased with this unit. But then, I prefer function over form.

I bought an Auto Meter 2204 Gauge Cup to mount a Max Tow water temp gauge on the dash of my older F350 IDI Turbo Diesel Utility Truck. I wanted a more accurate gauge to monitor the engine temp in my newly remanufuctured 7.3 IDI Turbo Diesel engine. The cup Installed easily, works well. I went ahead and bought the Max Tow matching Transmission Temp Gauge and the EGT Pyrometer and installed them side by side in Auto Meter Gauge Cups. All look good. The mounting cups look good on my dash and hold the gauges steady. If I decide to add a Turbo Boost Gauge, I will buy another.... Likesilver, San Leandro, CA.

I used this on my 27 Ford T Roadster. Since I have no hood I mounted on a cross brace that I attached to the radiator to the firewall support rods. This will permit me to mount a total of four different gauges. The first to go on was an auto meter vacuum gauge. It worked out great and added a pro-street look to the engine compartment with a great straight on view of the readings. I just ordered my second cup and an auto meter water temp gauge. Although I already have a water temp gauge in my dash I added this one to read the temp at a different location. This will allow me to keep a close check on the temp conditions from my 500HP engine. First impression is its a quality made item like I've come to expect from auto meter but than again for what your paying it should be.So here is my observation and experience with this pod. The metal is a good gauge thickness the black finish looks good,but i knocked a star off because to me the silver screws just detract from the looks. The screws should of been black to blend in and make a neater appearance. The base is sturdy and will allow you to tilt the pod a bit for better viewing. You have two options with the base it can be mounted with self tapping screws supplied or a large hose clamp though the slot in the base or a heavy duty zip tie.It also comes with a right angle fitting and coupling if your going to install a manual oil pressure gauge. The one draw back or advantage depending on space to install pod is its not very deep it says in the instructions that you may have to shorten the studs that come out the back of your gauge that you would normally use to install with the bracket supplied with the gauge. Which is ok I guess if you don't plan on ever changing what type housing your going to put your gauge in.This pod uses a clamping force when you tighten up the screws to secure pod to base it snugs up the housing around the gauge. It holds it securely and this design makes the pod length shorter so you need less room to install it. So it has good and bad points. Once every thing is tightened up the gauge sits securely mounted without any vibrations or wiggle to it.

Great gauge pod. Small and made for their purpose, these fit just about anywhere and look good too.Great quality and with the gauge installed become a solid fixture for the pod.I'm buying 2 more for my a/f and boost gauges.

Kept running into the issue of many pods not fitting my boost gauge. This was the first on out of 6 or 7 that I stride that actually worked and was super easy to install and looks good as well!

I bought this to do a pillar gauge install on a sprinter van because they don't sell a plastic molded mount for it. The cup is very well made mounted very easily with screws/ bolts and had slots to mount it with a band clamp if necessary for mounting it on tubing. It's very solid and does not vibrate. This will be my go to mount for future gauge mounting needs
