I ordered these insoles before realising that I dont have flat feet . I actualy have high arched feet. Are these only good for flat feet ?

This is my personal opinion. I haven't got flat feet or high arched feet and my condition has improved slightly by wearing these.

Would these help for pain in outside edge of the foot whilst running?

I don't run but I do a lot of walking. My plantar faciistis was so severe that I even battled to walk but the arch supports made it more bearable. I did daily ice packs for weeks to help alleviate the "tearing" pain" in the side of my foot but there is no quick fix. The arch supports certainly helped.

I'm a size 5 and a half. Should I get the size 5 or 6 and cut it to size?

I think the three dimensional contoured design would make them difficult to accurately cut down to a smaller size. If you really want to try them I suggest you go for size 5. PS. I am delighted with the three pairs that I have purchased.
