OK, I haven't used these in anger yet, so can't talk about range or battery life.If you're happy to use them as-is, then fine. Your main problem will be that the charger units don't make reliable contact. You need to wiggle the radio to get the light to switch to red (charging). I've actually opened my charger units up and bent the spring contacts forward. However, there is a rather more reliable though less convenient charging option via USB-C socket (lead provided.) The charging bases also misleadingly give you a mains voltage input specification, even though they are set up to charge from a 5V USB socket.If you want to configure your radios, you'll need to buy the optional programming lead, www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0C6GLH9FD. This comes with a USB memory stick and a mini CD. The stick offers the correct utility, but initially it displays in Chinese. However, there is a Word document on the CD that guides you through the Chinese language menus to switch to English.As is usual with far eastern products, instructions and guidance are scanty. My main interest was in setting up security codes so these sets would only talk to each other and reject other sets on the same channels.My main disappointment is that there is no “beep” function to alert the user to an incoming call. Just a green LED.

We have been using these for the last three years. We tend to use them in the field, on safari, in separate vehicles. Yes, their power is limited by the licensing provisions but when within range (which can be maximised by thoughtful deployment) they give clear voice comms and good battery life (although, when in vehicles, they can be powered from the 12V socket with USB adapter, giving indefinite service). We are delighted with them.

Only works with basic functionality. A program lead and support pc software named by Amazon is required to activate such functions as VOX. Having purchased the additional cable, downloaded software requires additional software to be obtained from Jucjet. Even with all this, it has not been possible to connect the radio to a computer to obtain the VOX function.Do not purchase unless you only want a basic push button to talk function.
