This set is great. The sand is flowy but doesn't stick to my hands. The castle pieces make really nice shapes out of the sand. I was surprised that the flowy sand packed tight enough to make shapes hold. Castle pieces and sand fit perfectly in the box, but with no extra room. The box is cute, and I think kids will enjoy the creative options it gives. I bought this for sandtray therapy, so I kind of wish the box had a flat bottom. I learned the hard way with another set of kinetic sand -- don't get it wet. I washed my hands and used a 3 lb bag from Michaels, and now it is kind of sticky and warm. It still works, but it is not as nice as this. I could be wrong about what happened. Hopefully other people will share if they have similar issues. I also bought the 5.5 lb box here on Amazon. This has a courser feel, and slightly moister. My first impression is that the two would not mix well. That is my only issue. I would like to have more than 2.5 lbs of sand to work with. If I do find more sand, it won't fit into the box. If the 3.25 lb bag from Amazon is similar to the 3 lb bag from Michaels, then that is probably the best bet for mixing. The 5.5 lb sand review redirects me here. So I'll say more about that. It's a lighter color and very fine. It still sticks to itself and not to my hands. It feels really good. It's a drier, smoother feel. I tried it with the sandcastle pieces, and it does hold its shape there. This sand is a lighter beige, while the sand castle kit sand is a darker, courser brown. This sand is great for sandtray therapy. The sandtray figures don't get dirty. The sand comes off easily. The sand is mesmerizing. It feels good to play with.

Kinetic Sand provides an enjoyable and relatively mess-free playtime indoors. The sand can be mezmorizing, even for adults, and holds the attention of kids who are normally like squirrels and jump from one thing to another. Kinetic Sand is unexpectedly soft and moldable, and doesn't have the texture of normal sand. It is more like soft putty versus actual sand and sticks together nicely. There are occasional stray pieces but they clean up much easier than Playdough. It does have a mild silicone smell, which I actually find uniquely intriguing and oddly pleasant. The joy of Kinetic Sand will make you want to rid your house of the dreadful Playdough. First, it is much more fun and tactile to mold in your hands. Most importantly, there is minimal mess with Kinetic Sand and it won't stick to anything. The stray chunks that make their way onto the floor are easy to clean up. Kinetic Sand also doesn't dry out like Playdough. This comes in a resealable bag but more for the purpose of keeping it safe versus preventing it from drying out. I feel like parents can actually walk away from kids playing with Kinetic Sand, versus having to watch every move when they use Playdough, and still finding chunks imbedded in carpet. The 3.25 pounds of Kinetic Sand in this bag was plenty to sit around the table with four people (two kids, two adults). Our three year old enjoyed using his diggers and dozers to make a construction site with the Kinetic Sand, and the sand never stuck to any of the toys. This Kinetic Sand is a five star product and holds the attention of most kids (and adults) for hours, with minimal mess and easy clean up.

Quality, durable sensory sand, color matches real sand. Highly recommend to use with drop cloth to prevent items for floor spillage mixing in. Value for money would and will purchase again

Definitely need to buy at least 2 boxes for a sandbox in a rubbermaid bucket. It is great and easily cleans up. It is like a brick at first but once the air hits it, softens really well.

I bought this Kinetic Sand for my toddler because we love sensory play, and it’s always been a hit in our house. It’s soft, easy to mold, and keeps my little one engaged for long stretches of time. Cleanup is simple since it clumps together, and the bright color makes it extra fun for building shapes and creations. That said, I did notice this batch had a stronger smell—almost like glue—and it felt a bit stickier compared to other Kinetic Sand we’ve purchased in the past. It still works fine and hasn’t been a problem for play, but it was different enough to notice. Overall, it’s still a great activity for creative play and fine motor skills, just with a slightly different texture and scent than I was expecting.

It said this for a 5 year old but my 2yo loves to play with it! Of course with supervision making sure he doesn’t eat it. It’s very interesting because there’s no mess at all! You also will get the lid to cover and store everything! Makes it easy to store the toy without a mess! Also it’s not drying at all and can be used over and over again! Good for sensory play!

My grandchildren. 2 yrs old and 3 yrs old LOVE this! I bought 2 mini outdoor pools, one blue and one pink (no squabbling) and put the sand in them (1 for the 3-yr old grandson (blue) and one for his 2-yr old sister (pink.) They can play for a very long time for their ages! I bought road work as well construction toys, they push the sand around, they bury things and dig them out...can play w/this in many different ways! My daughter likes that it is soft not grainy, that it wipes off the kiddos bare skin and clothes, well! I do not let the sand in the pools sit outside, the pools are put under a covering or in a garage! I do not believe the sand would do well getting soaked by rain. The kid's dad got grass clippings in the setting on the ground pools, had to pitch it all and start over...a small pool or large tub, setting on a deck or in a porch, would be a great idea for outdoor play! Indoor, perhaps a large tub! Either way, the sand would easily be swept up, it does not harden like original Play Doh :) ! Great Buy!
