just barely five stars
⭐️ - awful, probably DNF⭐️⭐️- didn’t like but not terrible, actually finished it⭐️⭐️⭐️ - it was ok, passed the time⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - good story, good writing, entertaining, just not great⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - great, could not put it down, excellent writing and storyWas it a 4 star or a 5 star book? Doesn’t really matter. It was entertaining and action packed. A wonderful story, which has me wanting to read more. You have to like military science-fiction, but still an enjoyable read.

Good read
Good story line. well staged action, even gratuitous sex (not sure how a park with running brook and pools would work on a space ship, especially a naval starship)Bur, absent the last point and a somewhat what rushed ending, the book is a page-turner

Well written adventure
Great book. Very interesting story, with lots of twists. Great characters and intriguing mixed together for a story to be followed

Enjoyed the author's style and wit.
I enjoyed the writing. The characters speak like real people. I'm not put off by the language. That's the problem I have with some science fiction writing. People evolve but I doubt human interaction will clean up the way we speak. Especially under stress. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series!👍

Light, easy reading Space-Fiction story. Very entertaining.
First, I read SciFi for escapism and entertainment – not deep meaning, actual science, or special meanings. This story is perfect for me. I would note that I’d call this Space-Fiction, there really is almost no actual science of any sort in it. For the story line, that just doesn’t matter. The book is truly ‘action-packed’. As many other reviews have noted, a bit too packed. However, that did tend to keep it on the lighter side. No dark descriptions of blood & guts, just all sorts of events. Others have also noted (or complained) that the book is sexist. In today’s world, it most certainly is. If this were the ‘60’s, it would be called a leader in advancing strong feminism. There are plenty of strong, intelligent women, along with a lot of really overblown physical descriptions. So, yes, it is sexist. In my view, not so that it impacts the enjoyment of the story. One place that does sort of get in the way (and also mentioned by others) is a very distorted and mixed-up handling of chain-of-command and military discipline. I’m not military, but did have training in military traditions. Things like a Marine Sgt. preferring a Navy commander to call the Sgt. by his first name is something I’ve never even come close to seeing. Same for the interactions between commands & ranks. It is so far off from reality that it does tend to get in the way of the story line.Overall, a pretty good story & book. If you are not looking for light, fast, escapism reading, this might be the wrong book. For me, I did enjoy it and look forward to the rest of the series.

Some fun star stuff ✨️
Rousing tale. Little more action less murder mystery would be better. But overall a good read. Will try another one.

Story is good, writing needs proofing
It's a good story; fast-paced, fun. It is in need of serious copy editing though. The odd punctuation and overzealous italics make it difficult to read. I purchased Ironhold and Miasma Burn both as I headed for vacation. I forced myself to finish Ironhold, but will not start Miasma Burn.

A great read,
Ironhold Station is worth picking up and you may find you can’t put it down. Characters build and draw you in to their lives in a combination of action, humour and a story line with a few twists to keep you guessing.

Author apparently didn't finish high school.
The writing is pretty wooden, and the characters are all one dimensional. But I could overlook that, to some extent, for some well-paced action...I have no idea whether there is some in that book, but there wasn't any in the 1/4 of it I read.Unfortunately, that's not what killed it for me. No, what did is one too many instances where the author's basic physics education is lacking. I stopped at the point where he states that negative *energy* is the same as anti-*matter*. Not only he doesn't know that it isn't, but he can't be bothered to do a quick wikipedia search just to be sure.Lack of talent, lack of education, and laziness. I am not interested in rewarding that.
