Our Global Traveler Pant lives up to its name: it's been painstakingly engineered and passport approved for top echelon travel, thanks to a nylon Teflon stain-/water-resistant finish and Dot-MatrixTM weaving, which puts small raised dots on the back of the fabric to create an air gap between you and the fabric. Global Traveler Nylon makes these pants something truly special—something you can absolutely rely on. The lightweight all-nylon fabric that makes these pants utilizes Dot-Matrix weave technology to keep an air gap between you and the fabric for remarkable comfort, has a Teflon stain-resistant finish, UV protection and, ideal for travel, resists wrinkles.

Royal Robbins makes great clothing, and I have two pair of these ...
Royal Robbins makes great clothing, and I have two pair of these pants and love them.LOOK: These are travel or hiking pants, but they look "normal" enough to wear everyday, and I do. They are a little too casual for my place of work, but I wear them pretty much everywhere else.LIGHTWEIGHT: They are super lightweight, so they are more comfortable than most shorts in Florida's spring and summer heats.DURABLE: They're also durable. I wear both pairs weekly, no issues. I also am a photographer, so I often have a belt pack rubbing up against them, but there's not apparent wear and tear in those issues.FIT: The challenge with Royal Robbins pants is the fit. Some products run small; others run large. These ran small for me. So if you are a 32 waist, you need a 34. Note, however, that the "stretch" global traveler pants run in the opposite direction, so if you wear a 32, you need to order a 30. It's frustrating, but once you get the right size, the pants are great.

Great pants for travel
These are my favorite travel pants, thus far. The zipper pockets are a nice touch, and relatively well concealed. The pants appear to be fairly normal (although not my usual style) from a distance, which is a HUGE plus in my book (I dislike pants that scream "tourist"... these pants are more of an indoor voice). The material is lightweight, the waterproofing/stainproofing works well, and I was able to wear these pants for 3 days sans washing without too many ill-effects. When I did a shower wash, they were still damp the next day (a full 12 hours later). This was probably a result of the humidity and lack of air-flow where I hung them, but it was still disappointing. They have mesh pockets, which I dislike, but it's a small concession. I can't see myself wearing these casually around my hometown, but when I'm out and about? I can find a lot worse (and have).

Decent travel pants.
I debated between leaving 3 and 4 stars on this product. If I had not bought the Columbia Sportswear Men's Royce Peak Pants at the same time, I probably would've left a 4 (more on that later). All told, these are pretty decent pants. I bought the light khaki version and they ended up being quite handy for my intended purpose (a 10 day trip to Scandinavia in the Fall). My main complaint--and it's not a deal breaker--is that the pants were a bit on the baggy side. I'm an average sized guy (5'11 180) and, while these were not "parachute" pants, they weren't tailored fit by any means.Pros: versatile pant that looked pretty good. -You can wear these comfortably in almost any setting (except for dressier occasions).-They definitely are NOT see-thru and don't feel like papier mache (or any other weird texture).-Nice hidden pocket!-Looks good after several days wear and washes.-Also, if you're on the husky side, the fit will be comfy.Cons: If you're on the average (or smaller) side, these pants might be a bit baggy (especially at the ankles).-While these are fairly durable, I did get a small snag on these pants. Probably would've happened to most pants of this (light) weight, so I can't knock it too hard. Don't think of using these as real "work" pants though. All told, these were pretty decent pants--especially for the money. They were the correct balance between light and substantial. On a side note, if you do any sort of traveling (say, for a week or more at a time), TRAVEL PANTS are the way to go. I can't believe the idea never occurred to me before now. I packed two pairs (this one and the Columbia ones I mentioned earlier) and they lasted me the full 10 days (and I didn't have to pack heavy jeans). You could literally wash these in a hotel sink/bathtub (if need be) and they'd be dry and ready to go in the morning.

If you're a little heavy, might want to look elsewhere
Like some other customers who bought these pants, I find them a little tight. I usually take a 40 waist with 32-34 inseam, but, after reading Amazon customer reviews complaining that the pants run small, I ordered 42x32. The pants are a little tight for me because I need more "freedom" in the seat and crotch to be really comfortable (as in...sitting in an airplane seat for hours at a time). Even with the larger waist, these pants feel slightly tight in the waist, butt and between the legs.Otherwise, the pants are pretty much standard for travel pants made of synthetic material, of which I have four other pairs from three other makers, including another pair of Royal Robbins. Unlike those other pants, these are 100 percent nylon and have little or no stretch, and that might be the difference. All in all, the pants seem well made and will probably hold up as well and as long as other pants in this category (synthetic travel pants). And, if you're slim and trim and keep up with your Pilates, you will probably find them comfortable as well as durable.

waaaaaay too small
Waaaaaay too small for me. I ordered a size up and they are still too small. I usually wear a 38x32, but reading reviews said I should order a 40x32. I did and there is no way this thing will fit. The waist is a full 4 inches too small, I cant even button it up. And the pant also tapers downward so if you have any shape to your butt at all, any muscle in your quads, anything resembling calves... then these things are too tight to comprehend. Forget sitting down, the pants are too tight. I'll stick with exofficio.I unfortunately bought these and didn't try them on until after the return window so I am stuck with them. They seem like good quality pants so I am going to try and find a friend that could fit in these.

Okay, But Hate the Pockets
The Good: They dry super fast and they're very light-weight (but not transparent, like some of the others). The Bad: They use a sort of fishnet material (that nasty stuff they put in men's swimsuits to make us all miserable) for the pockets, which is just incredibly uncomfortable both for purposes of putting things in and taking them out of your pockets (harsh on the hands) and having that material up against your skin. Particularly if you're going somewhere hot.
