Simply Awesome
Better than the picture. Here are some comments about installation and operation.Installation took an hour. A pro could do it in 20 minutes. The hanging bracket is oversized and must be swapped in to replace most existing brackets, which was easy. The manual says to use washers for this, but none were provided. Remove and set aside the two screws at the bottom of the bracket before mounting the fan.Position the remote receiver all the way inside the hanging bracket, as far as it will go, taking care not to crimp the antenna and wires. Hold the receiver in place and route all the wires -- including three green or bare grounds and the two (or three) AC wires -- carefully out of the bracket. If you have three AC wires (plus ground) coming down from the ceiling, you can wire the light to your existing wall switch (connect blue wire to red wire, leaving black wire from remote to light unconnected) -OR- use the remote for the light (leave red wire unconnected), but not both. I confirmed this with Fanimation tech support. If you use your existing wall switch, you will not have a dimmer unless that switch is a dimmer. Using instead the remote might leave you with a dead wall switch, but you can mount the remote over that wall switch, which is kind of kludgy but functional. Some reviewers report that the light is dim. It has four 43-watt incandescent bulbs, but they cast light horizontally at ceiling level, not downward. Also, the remote has a dimmer, so make certain that the dimmer is at its highest setting. The level of light is fine for a bedroom, although you cannot read a book by it. Other lights would be wanted in any other room.Air flow is, I believe, proportional to the square of blade length, so these relatively small blades mean that the motor runs faster than it would with long blades. Noise is, I believe, proportional to the square of blade speed. This fan will therefore move less air than a fan with long blades, at any given speed, and make more noise than a fan that turns slower, at any given rate of air flow. (Does that make sense?) At low, there is almost no noise and a little less air flow than I am accustomed to. At medium, the air flow is as high as you would usually want and the sound is a slightly audible white noise that some might even find soothing. At high, you get a lot of air and it hums. I might consider pairing this ceiling fan with one of Fanimation's retro table fans; the art deco one would complement it nicely. You will not regret this purchase.

Fan is great, but light is dim!
Very nice fan. The light (using the bulbs that come with it) is NOT very bright. My kitchen is quite small -- roughly 12x10 -- and this is far too dim to use alone at night if I want to cook. I need to also turn on the lights over my sink and over the stove. Kind of annoying -- but the fan makes up for it! Since my home was built in 1930, it has some quirks, including the fact that the previous owners don't have the AC duct hooked up to the kitchen, making cooking in the summer pretty rough! This fan changes all that and makes it bearable. We were originally going to have an electrician put this up, but opted to attempt a DIY after looking over the directions. I noticed some reviewers split the wires so that the light or fan are hardwired separately. My husband and I are newer homeowners and our skill level isn't there yet, so we did the standard install, which means everything is controlled via remote. I'm getting used to that! The fan's three speeds are nice -- the highest level is industrial level intensity. Maybe you'd use it if you filled the kitchen with smoke after burning a potato casserole after forgetting you left the broiler on? Not that I've ever done that.We had to change out the fixture box and bracket in the ceiling, because the directions warn you that it must be rated for a ceiling fan. Make sure you do that! This light is not lightweight. If you've ever changed a fixture yourself, don't be intimidated by all the wires -- many of them are just connecting the fixture to the remote receiver. It's no biggie other than that!

Looks great! Fans great! Light? Not so much.. but..Looks great!
Electrician installed bc it needed to be moved vs keeping in the same spot ftom the previous light fixture. It’s a heavy, seemingly well made fan w a light. It says it’s for small rooms but make sure it will not overwhelm your space. The lighting bulbs that come w it? Are very dim. So if you are requiring more intensity like wise? We have other supplemental lighting in this room so it’s fine as is.The wall turn off on was also too deep for our wall so it now sits on top vs inside and flush on our wall. The fan itself gives off ample above the bed air circulation imho. If you are using it to cool a room? Prob need to get a different type of fan.

Looks great -- Very loud fan blades humming
Fan is very loud. Sounds like a box fan running. It was for our bedroom and we had to return the unit. Could not listen to that loud sound all night.
