Control improves comfort and saves electricity
AccuControls Outlet Thermostat | Non-programmable for Space Heaters and Window Air Conditioners I use the AccuControls Outlet Thermostat to control a pedestal fan blowing excess heat from my furnace enclosure into the living area of my mobile home. When the furnace starts running, the Outlet Thermostat, operating in cooling mode, turns the fan on at the temperature I have set. After the furnace stops running and the temperature in the enclosure drops, the Outlet Thermostat turns the fan off. This results in more heat being delivered to the living area during a heating cycle.I have now purchased another Outlet Thermostat to control an electric heater in an adjoining room. The heater I am using there has a built-in thermostat, but it is very inaccurate; I have to keep adjusting it to avoid wasting electricity. For this application I operate the fan in heating mode to turn on the heater when the room temperature drops below a temperature I set, and turns the heater off when the temperature goes above that point. I set the heater's built-in thermostat at maximum so that the Outlet Thermostat will be in control. I have found the Outlet Thermostat to be very accurate and consistent.

looks like this is the one that fits my need
I am looking for a simple outlet thermostat after having a complex programmable one for more than two years. I bought this one when there is only one 5-star review because I desperately wanted to have one that can let me simply put one setting. Well, looks like this is the one that fits my need. My son wakes me up during the night, so I have chances to check how it works. Here is what I found: When the room temperature is 71 F (I have another thermometer), the display on this guy is 75 F (It is away from the heater). I touch the back and I feel the warm. I highly suspect that it gets warmed up by itself after working for a while. And I noticed that it does not have a separate sensor which may be the reason. Though the temperature does cooling down after a while (seems long enough) and it starts working to turn the heater on. I don't have a peace of mind after I noticed this happening a few times. I am considering returning it.

So it is now useless for my purposes
Did not last long, a few months maybe, before it quit functioning. I used it indoors for heating and then set it on the shelf for a few months. When I got ready to use it again it defaulted to cooling. I could not switch it back to heating by following the instructions. I tried turning it off and on and holding the button down that is supposed to toggle between heating and cooling with no success. So it is now useless for my purposes. It is a cheap, made-in-China piece of junk, from my experience. If you don't need a programmable unit and you only plan to use the heating function, then I would strongly recommend getting a baseboard heater thermostat such as the Honeywell CT4108 available for about $13. You will need to be able to wire up the baseboard thermostat yourself, but once installed it provides a rugged, reliable, and inexpensive option for heating-only applications. You can mount it in a standard electrical junction box and wire a male 110V plug to the supply side and multiple outlet or appliances to the other side, making it very versatile. Also, it is an old-style bimetallic-spring-based, device rather than a solid-state device like this item. It should last for years.

Good, but could stand a couple design tweaks
I wish this had rotating prongs, to handle sideways outlets and upside-down outlets. Also, I can't be sure the calibration is right, as it seems to disagree by about 7-8 degrees with a glass thermometer just a foot away. Maybe it's reading heat generated by current in the outlet? In any case, a calibration mechanism might have been wise. For now I just set it at the temp that gets me what I want, even if it disagrees with the glass thermometer.

This item works very well. We plug our radiating ...
This item works very well. We plug our radiating heater into it, set them temp, and it stays there. We do have to set the temp about 2 degrees warmer than we want it since the heater is so close to this thermostat, that area is obviously warmer than the rest of the room. Since we set it warmer than we want it, the rest of the room is warm enough. The only down side is that we have a 21 month old toddler that sees these buttons and feels that she needs to push them. But if you don't have a button pushing toddler, this will not be a problem for you.

Works as described and is very easy to use
Works as described and is very easy to use. One small item that could be addressed is that the bump out on the bottom does not allow this to be plugged into an outlet with another item plugged in, the bump out sticks out to far. But overall the product does what I need it to do which is control a ceiling mounted heater for my garage.

Works Great, Design Could Be Improved
I bought this to use in my chicken house. I really like it, it works great on controlling the heat lamp. I do agree with other reviews that instructions are incorrect and need to be rewritten. Also, as others mentioned, would be nice if it did not cover the entire outlet. For these reasons, I am giving 4 stars instead of 5.

Good Product.
Good Quality, I use this thermostat to turn the heat lamp in my small greenhouse, so far is good i will know more once the cold weather hits. Based on my experience with the product so far; I will defiantly recommend this product. I had to read the instruction to be able to program it that's why I gave it 4 stars.
