i have a compartment for the cleaning pod. do i just throw this into my dishwasher with the dirty dishes?

My dishwasher has a compartment for the detergent (powder, liquid, pod, etc.) in the door. For the dishwasher cleaner pod itself, I just toss it into the bottom of the dishwasher (below rack) and then put the detergent pod into the detergent compartment on the door. Then, I run the dishwasher load with the dirty dishes as usual.

Will this product remove tomato sauce stains from plastic parts?

It is meant to be a dishwasher cleaner, I have never had a plastic container with tomato sauce stains washing at the same time to see if it would make a difference.
