Very sturdy but tip broke
Very sturdy and easy to use/extend. My wife uses this primarily to grab a dock line (or anything on land for that matter!) while docking. I also used it with a brush attachment for cleaning the boat but that was short lived - while scrubbing I broke the tip right off and it wasn't even that hard of pressure. Still works for our primary use and I will get a different pole with a metal end for cleaning. UPDATE: Since the tip broke I decided to add a loop. Very easy and cheap and adds a ton of functionality while docking. Just need some 3/16" coated wire rope (I used 4 ft. length), two wire rope clamps, and one or two hose clamps. I added some shrink wrap to make it look nice and clean. That was from Amazon and was 2" diameter 3:1 shrink wrap. Hope others find this useful!

Whole hook snapped off before delivery, BUT...
Received with a hook broken off. Not very durable for glass filled nylon. That being said, I contacted WindRider and they resolved the problem in two days - and were very gracious about helping me.This is a nice product, but the hooks seem to be a weak point. I have a bit of fiberglass resin left over from a boat project and think I will stuff the inside of the hook with fiberglass and resin to resolve this once and for all. That should make this thing last the rest of my life. Overall, I am good. I can appreciate a company who takes good care of their customers. I purchased this so I won't have to keep crawling into the back of my truck all the time. Now I can just reach in. WHEW!

Not impressed and not the same as what is described
I have only had this about one hour, but 1st impressions are everything. First off, the packaging was horrible. They put this in a long box that wasn't quite long enough. Their solution was to just close the end flaps on the end with the plastic hook as far as they could and then use packing tape to seal it. This caused the most fragile piece of the entire pole to take the brunt of any impact. Luckily, mine was not not damaged, but come on, put it in a properly sized box and package it properly. After cutting the tape on the box and removing the pole, there was a 'Made In China' sticker on the plastic bag that contained the supposedly Made in USA product. The product description has a big check mark under Made in USA and I like to support US made products. This was part of my reasoning for choosing this pole. The Made in China sticker just stinks of a bait a and switch tactic. Not cool at all.Next, the pictures of the item clearly show black plastic caps on the ends of each section. These were not there either. Not a huge deal, but still an issue with the item that you see not being the item that you receive. I will keep the pole since it is here now and we have a boating trip this coming weekend, so time will tell on how it actually functions.I rarely write critical reviews, especially for an item that has not been used yet, but this was a clear example of not getting what you paid for. So for those looking at this item, please note that, although it shows as Made in USA, it appears to be another Made in china product. Also, the black plastic ends shown at the end of each pole section are NOT on the actual item. I hope this helps someone when looking through the numerous options of boat hooks / poles available.Edit: I decided to return the pole and order another brand. The end of the plastic cap is the part that is threaded for other attachments, so the hook cannot be removed from the pole for easier storage and/or replaced with other attachments. Other attachments would have to be screwed onto the end of the plastic hook putting that much more strain on the plastic. I ordered a pole with a removable hook that can be replaced with other attachments. This was not a misrepresentation, just something that I didn't like once I saw the hook up close.

looks and operates as advertised, haven't been able to test its durability yet
I will be using it to grab a floating mooring buoy and also pushing off other boats while docking in tight spots.

Very useful when trying to get a snag from a tree over a lake. I can push or pull with it.
I was surprised in that it was built better than anticipated. Larger diameter tubing is a big plus. The end allows you to push or pull when getting into trees from my boat to retrieve stuck lures. Paid for itself in the first day of use. Be sure to tighten securely when extending pole. It collapsed on me the first time. After tightening there were no additional issues with it.

My worst fear...
My worst fear when ordering, was that this would be a thin, cheap boat hook that was barely substantial enough to do the job. When opening the box and pulling it out, however, I was surprised at how thick and solid it feels. It was exactly the opposite from what I feared. The largest tube is about 1-1/4" in diameter, which feels real good in my hand. The foam hand grip partway down from the end, as well as the thicker grip on the end (about 1-1/2"), make for an even even more-substantial feel. Those grips have a nice "grip" to them, and should work well with wet hands.I decided to give the pole a good push/pull test by extending each section partway, tightening them down firmly, and hooking it on a solid surface. It took quite a bit of push or pull to make the tubes slide against their internal friction - more than what would be applied when docking a medium to small boat. Therefore, I think it will hold up well to almost all docking situations.Next, I extended each section to it's full length. As with any extendable pole, the farther out you go, the less tube overlap you'll have, so rigidity is going to suffer a little. The smaller section did get a little less rigid, but it's still stiff enough for grabbing lines or pulling a floating boat over to a dock with a straight pull. The hook end appears to be strong, and it has a softer red cap on the end for added grip on any surface from which you may be pushing. Two rivets hold this hook in place, and they appear to be a nice distance from the end of the small tube (at least 1").Bottom line: This is much more solid and substantial than imagined it would be. WindRider didn't let me down. This is well worth the price.
