RUYUFE Toy Box Soft Close Lid Support 70N-120N After two attempts with other devices, these are actually soft closing. The gas shock type required mounting lower on the sides than was possible on these window seats. The metal adjustable type (QBOSO) were not really soft closing. After closing slowly for about 45 degrees, the lid slammed shut. These are better suited to a downward opening lid. It would be soft opening in this case. I installed one of the Ruyufe lid supports on each of two 13.5” x 52 3/4” window seat lids. The lids have two flush mounted hinges and weigh 10-12 lbs. each. I added blocks to the sides to extend the mounting surfaces. After attaching the top bracket as recommended in the instructions at 6 inches from the back edge, the lid only opened to about 75 degrees. Moving this bracket down 3/4” allowed the lid to open to 90 degrees. This resulted in the screw closest to the hinge to be centered 5 1/4” from the hinge side of the lid. The Ruyufe lid supports allow a secure opening to 90 degrees with the installation modification explained above. Pull the lid down 5-10 degrees, it closed very gently all the way down. I didn’t expect it to be so difficult to find a device that would enable soft closing for my situation. A toy box with solid sides would allow the gas shock type to work. A downward opening lid would probably allow the QBOSO type to work as a soft opening device. With a couple of modifications, the Ruyufe lid supports were the only type to work for my window seat lids.

Hey guys it's very easy to install it comes with a template even though it's in another language you follow directions and put it in the Box the way it shows you put it on the side it touches the top the paper does the paper touches the back but it says left and right hand but you have to take the where it says left hand and put the paper upside down you'll see how it works is very easy Once you figure it out

First, it works really well! It will definitely stop fingers from getting slammed in the toy box. The instructions were … maybe more confusing than just leaving them out. I’m once you figure it out it works great.

My husband used the stencil to install but after installing had to go back and adjust slightly due to it hitting wrong and not closing. After adjusting both which he said was an easy adjustment the lid shut and worked as described. Doesn’t help lift the lid or lesson the lift load but does make it close softly. As you can tell from the video it needs a little force to get it to close so it will never just start closing on its own and it lowers so slowly you have plenty of time to get fingers out of the way. The weight of my cedar chest lid is 20lbs so I knew I would need two for it to work.

Oct. 12, 2022: RUYUFE's Lid Support Hinge was easy to install. It took me less than 10 minutes to install it onto my parcel box. It has a very easy template that you can use. You don't need to use any of the included measurements, but you can if you want to. My lid is very small & light weight, so it doesn't really need the full 120N support of the hinge. It goes down very slowly; it will stay open; you can push it down to close, as well (it is stiff going down, which is good for me). It stays open up to 90°, and it was the right price. This is the best stay I have found for a toy box, smooth operation, slow close for a heavy lid, attractive, and easy enough to install. The instructions are for hidden cabinet hinges, but I used a piano hinge for my toy box. I painted the mechanism black. It worked ok with one stay and even better with two. The video shows how slowly it closes with two stays. I'll use these stays again. They are much better than the spring-loaded stays I used in the past.

Disappointed. I installed this on a light weight chest. Not sure if I got a faulty one but there is very little tension in the hinge. Does not do much at all. Does not close any slower. Pay for a higher quality hinge.

I built a wood outdoor storage box. The lid is approximately 30 lbs, so I installed two of these hinges on the lid (right and left side). It does not “soft close” as much as I hoped so strength of hinge is not up-to-the-task.

This made our toy box so much safer! My dad installed them in a few minutes. My toddler is going to love this. Great product!

I got nervous when I couldn't flex it by hand and saw these reviews about no movement... Installed it anyway and lo and behold with the bolt in and weight on it glides down like a charm. Works better than the pneumatics on my old minivan. 10/10 A++ flexes well.

Product was straightforward to install, however instructions appear to be written in Cantonese. Measurements are provided (in millimetres) and worked well. Once installed our toy box lid closes gently without slamming. It should be noted that only one arm assembly is included with this kit.

We installed this hinge on a very heavy hardwood trunk that is being used as a toy chest. The hinge was a breeze to install, and the soft close feature makes it safe so that the little ones dont hurt their fingers while it is closing. Zero complaints here.
