So, As I Brew . . .
. . . a single serve cup, I must share my experience with you. I have had versions of this Cuisinart for five or six years now, started with the Keurig but the things kept failing and I grew tired of returning them - they spent more time in a return box than on my countertop, done with that! Found this and immediately grew to like it. Dependable, for the most part, aesthetically pleasing to the eye, compact, yah, nice fit for me. I quickly found out that no matter how functional they are, these are time limited - not grannies 50-75 year heirloom coffee pots, those days are long over. Had two of these spanning five to six years but eventually they give up. If I do the math correctly, if purchased one for an average of 2 years for $80.00, that means that 365x2=730 days. $80.00/730=rounded to 11 cents per day. Now I consider this a win considering the throw away appliances that are sold to us. Having said that, this third one from Cuisinart came to me defective. Quickly, the push to ON/OFF switch pressed on but did not spring back so that I could push to off, poor QC at the factory. Sent it back through Amazon's wonderful return policy, got refunded, and quickly ordered another as a replacement, works just fine. Here is your takeaway: set the thing up when it arrives, and immediately put it through it's paces - stress test it. Run vinegar through it, cycle it then with clean water to flush over, and over, and over again. Make sure all the features work, don't wait to the last minute. The thing works just fine now. Will it break tomorrow, God only knows but finally, 5Gold because I really like it, good luck!

Quiet and efficient
Impressed. I use this in my office and it’s very quiet, fast, and hot. I only wish that the tray was adjustable for different cup sizes as coffee splatters out when it’s dispensing.

Junk, try something else.
I have other Cuisinart brand appliances, e.g. , a coffee grinder and a bread machine that work well and that is one reason I decided to try this coffee maker. I saw negative reviews and foolishly ignored them thinking those folks just had bad luck and I could probably repair any issue I came across after purchase. Well, I was wrong. THIS THING IS JUNK. First, the amount of water used is too much causing many overflows and spills depending on which size coffee cup used. Worst flaw is that on some pods (they are not all made the same) the top of the disposable pod would split or burst near the end of the brewing cycle and result in grounds in the coffee at best and grounds and liquid coffee spilled all over the counter top and inside the machine at worst. The unit is not made for easy cleaning either. If I just used it to make hot water for tea (in an extra large cup) and didn't mind having to refill the tank every other cup I guess it would be okay. If you want a K-cup/pod coffee maker try something else. I almost never throw anything away but after trying several times to figure out how to work around its problems I've given up on this thing and it's going in the trash. I'll also be reluctant to buy another 'Cuisinart' appliance ever again because my experience with this one. Good luck!

Puts Keurig to shame
Great coffee maker. Vastly superior to Keurig

Leaking….
I really like this coffee maker and it worked well for quite a while, but it is now leaking. It seems the little rubber washer at the bottom of the reservoir no longer seats properly. Has anyone come up with a fix? Update: I pivoted and started adding in only one cup's worth of water to continue brewing. That worked for a while, now it refuses to acknowledge there is water in the reservoir.

Nice size for just a couple cups of coffee.
I have a larger Cusinart coffee maker at home and love it so much that I bought the smaller version for when I visit my daughter (she has a different kind of coffee maker that I don’t love). With Cuisinart there is no waiting for the water to heat up, it is instantaneous. I love that feature. K-cup machines are simple and easy to use, are easy to clean and provide the right amount of coffee with a choice of ounce settings.

Leaks
Extremely disappointed that it leaks a month after purchase. Will be returning today. Follow-up: Unfortunately I am a few days outside of the return window so I have to work directly with Cuisinart. Follow-up 2: While Cuisinart did reply promptly to my inquiry, I purchased a replacement coffeemaker right away since I had no idea how long I would be without one. (Yes, another Cuisinart since I never had issues with their other appliances and this machine came highly recommended) I haven't gotten as far as an approval but I was told Cuisinart cannot refund money, only replace the machine. I don't need another coffeemaker so I just went back to Amazon about a refund. Sigh. Follow-up FINAL: I just chatted with a most helpful Amazon Customer Service Rep about returning the machine to Amazon. I am revising this to 3 stars since the machine is still defective but 2 stars to Amazon Customer Service!

Great Coffemaker!
The Cuisinart SS-5P1 Coffeemaker worked great. It is compact, and well designed. The simplicity of the unit makes it easy for anyone to use, including a clear compartment on the back to add the water where you can see exactly the amount of water in the unit, very smart! If my 93 year old mom can use it then anyone can, and my mom said the coffee was delicious! It has three cup size settings, and the coffee comes out without any coffee grounds in it too. We bought the Cuisinart Cup where you can add your own ground coffee into the cup, and it cost around $30.00. I would recommend this product to anyone wanting a simple single cup coffeemaker, that makes a great cup of coffee. The only thing is my mom likes her coffee really hot, so after making the coffee I put the cup in the microwave for about a minute, and the coffee comes out very hot.
