I.C. Sufferers and Outdoors Women Rejoice!
I suffer from a condition called Interstitial Cystisis. One of the symptoms I struggle with from it is urinary frequency, and by urinary frequency I mean VERY frequent. When you don't go frequently it also becomes very painful from a full bladder. It makes it difficult to leave home. I was unable to spend time in nature as often as I like because squatting outdoors means getting bug bites in not so nice places. Multiple medication trials failed to help, so I decided to look into FUDs (Female Urination Devices) I had my mind set on another brand at first, but after a bit of research I settled on the Freshette. It works SO well! No longer do I have to expose my bum to the pests of the great outdoors, and I can relieve my bladder when I need to! I can finally spend time out in the woods again without stress. It suits feminine bits well, and I haven't had a leak or any problems with it. Though the one shown in the listing was pink and white, the one I received was green with a clear tube, but I don't mind! This product is perfect for my fellow I.C. sufferers that enjoy the outdoors, as well as campers, hikers, hunters, travelers... the list goes on! I use mine when traveling so I don't have to "hover" over public toilets. It's easy to clean, and after over a month of use, no foul smell or discoloration yet. I recommend buying or sewing a pouch to keep it in, as the plastic one it comes with isn't ideal, but it does work for awhile! This product has honestly changed my life for the better, I don't know why I didn't buy it sooner!

The best!
Why did I wait so long. I'm an outdoorsy older woman who pees a lot! I'm usually looking for a spot to squat but not anymore. You literally can stand and pee. This device does not collapse and it makes a nice tight seal. No spillage. My sister bought a similar device in silicone and she peed all over herself. It's not really funny but it was at the time. Being my sister, I did let her borrow mine. To clean it you can just swish it out in the snow, water or bag it up and clean it when home. Because it's a rigid material you can pretty much wipe any excess urine away. Needless to say my sister ordered this one and loves it as much as I do. The plastic "hose" pushes back into the main body for compact size. I practiced standing up in the bathroom a few times and it's easy to get the hang of. The only negative is the plastic storage bag is pretty cheap but easy to replace. I use it for hiking, kayaking, long car rides, ice fishing. It exceeds my expectations.

So glad I ordered this!
Before a camping trip in 2014, I was trying to figure out what I could do to avoid the nightly trips to the restrooms, which require getting dressed and unzipping the tent, etc., and is really a pain. I found another device, the Shewee, and the video made it look so easy to use, so I ordered it. I thought it was working ok during practice at home...until I tried to use it with my hiking shorts on and with a pretty full bladder. Huge mess. This happened another time, and I decided it just wasn't going to work and gave up. Now, we are planning a hiking trip and I want to be able to stay well-hydrated, but not have to squat behind a tree. Also, some areas we will be in have pit toilets which are just vile! If you squat over them, you can feel the air rushing up from the "pit" and the air feels wet. Not acceptable! So, I ordered the Freshette based on the reviews here and on some backpacking/hiking forums. I received the one I saw pictured (military green). I didn't even practice in the shower first, but tried the toilet and it was 100% successful. I have since used it fully dressed and absolutely no leaks, even with a very full bladder. I do feel the need to use some TP afterwards, though, but that's fine because I am thrilled that this works! The real test will be using it with my backpack on. I've already figured out which hiking shorts are preferred, and those are the ones that allow me to place the device going up the leg of the shorts. If I wear shorts that do not allow this, then I will have to pull the shorts down a bit, but underwear can be moved to the side without getting wet (not so easy with the Shewee because of it's shape). I think the Shewee could work if you place it correctly and can control how fast you go with a full bladder, but it's just not worth the risk for me. My trip is in 5 weeks and I intend to practice with the Freshette at least once a day to gain even more confidence and train my bladder to empty while standing.UPDATE 6/4/17: I have since used the Freshette with a full bladder & backpack. I have had 100% success with this device. I also decided to order the pStyle to have something a bit smaller with a discreet carrying case that clips to the outside of my pack. I've also had 100% success with the pStyle and it will be my #1 choice for hiking, with the Freshette along as a backup if I lose the pStyle. Using the Freshette with so much success gave me the confidence to try the pStyle. Both of these devices are awesome! I do believe the key to successful use is to press the back of the device to the perineal area, but to leave an air gap at the front (even just 1/4"). If you hold the Freshette tight to your body, you are creating a sort of airlock, which won't allow the funnel to drain as quickly and that may be why some people get overflow.
