Not my childhood read
I've always liked what Shel Silverstein's writes, but I am looking for another book about an apple tree that gives and gives and gives. I am told this is about parents giving to their children without thinking about themselves. I guess some parents do the sacrificed. The way I see it, "Some give all. All give none."-unknown. This saying is military.

Great Story, Great Moral
Well written, illustrated and the story is timeless. No greater love has a "man"/tree than to lay down his/its life for another.......

Great book
I have loved this story since I was little bought it for my granddaughter. The morally of thos story and the way its told is the most heartwarming you can find. The creativity and caring in this book is unmatched in childrens books now and days. Love it! It is a must have on your childrens book shelf. If you dont have it get! You will be doing your child a disservice if you dont.

Wonderful book
I have had this book in my classroom for 26 years. My son has enjoyed having it read to him and then reading it to himself. We were recently invited to a son's first birthday party and the request was to bring a book you thought he needed for his personal library,. My son requested this book from him because it has a great meaning behind it. He got it for him. I agree, it's an awesome addition to a child's library.

Every child should receive this book on 1st birthday
This is my Favorite book for all kids (and some of their parents too). This to me is a perfect example of what every child needs to know especially in these times. I give this book to every child I know for their 1st birthday. Reading to your child is a great gift and this teaches a great lesson, I find some people forgot.

Grand daughter enjoys the book.
The Giving Tree has long been one of my favorite books for teaching children about unconditional love and sacrificial giving. Shel Silverstein does a masterful job with symbolism in this story.

The most amazing book!
This book is so special. I remember as a kid and I loved it and as I was reading it to my five-year-old, I couldn't even get through the book without crying. My little one was like Mommy why are you crying? I was like because it's such a great story sweetie. Literally my favorite children's book. It has such a great message.
