It did the job perfectly of removing a broken, plastic threaded pipe-end from an underground feed in my sprinkler system.

I had to replace a couple broken sprinkler risers, and I was dreading having to dig around the riser area just to have enough room to be able to twist off the broken piece. Before I did the repair, I came across the Orbit Pro Series Sprinkler Riser Extractor and it looked like something I could use. A couple days later the tool arrived and I tried it out - and was immediately happy that I waited!The Rise Extractor made it so easy to swap risers with zero digging required - just press the nose of the tool into the broken riser piece, twist counter-clockwise, and the broken piece will come out! I swapped out 2 broken risers and I did not have to disturb the lawn surrounding the sprinkler location. I set aside about 20-30 minutes for the repairs, but with the Riser Extractor I had everything completed in less than 5 minutes!

I've had sprinkler systems for 25+ years and thought I had all the necessary tools to repair and maintain them. I was wrong. Last week I discovered a leak in one of my sprinkler heads and diagnosed the problem as a cracked threaded riser deep in the ground, with very limited space around it to work on it. I was unable to remove it with any of my tools, so I went online to look for a tool that might solve my problem. Lo and behold, I discovered this 1/2" riser extractor made by Orbit, so I ordered it on Amazon. After I received it a couple days later, I immediately put it to the test. Within 30 seconds the stubborn riser was out of the ground! I simply inserted the steel end piece with substantial "teeth' down into the riser and turned the handle counterclockwise, and with very little effort the riser was unscrewed from the fitting and lifted out of the hole. I then used this tool to insert a new riser into the fitting and tighten it down. I then threaded on the sprinkler head and quickly had a working sprinkler with NO leaks. This tool was a godsend!

One piece design is much better than tools with 2 separate ends. The small one always strips out on those. I expect this one will last until Iose it... The red handle makes it easy to see, so I hope to keep it many years.

I have broken three of the cheapies. Finally, I bought this good one. Yes, it was more than double the price. But, it is strong, sturdy, and not cheaply made out of pot metal.

I accidentally mowed over one of my sprinkler heads and broke the riser pipe, resulting in needing to get the broken pipe out of main sprinkler line. Before when this would happen, I would use my pocket knife to wedge inside the riser pipe and screw it out. This time around the pipe wouldn't budge and I actually broke the wooden handle off my knife. I bought this tool and it unscrewed the broken pipe in seconds, should have just done it properly the first time - I wouldn't have a broken pocket knife. Really good tool.

I am a 75 year old woman with limited mobility. A few days ago my sprinkler on a riser pipe broke off below ground. I thought I. Would have someone to fix it or dig up my yard. I went to YouTube to see if I could fix it myself. That is where I saw this tool.I ordered one on Amazon but had to send it back because the head and the handle were different sizes and I couldn’t connect the 2 pieces. I got a refund and ordered this one. This one came assembled. I took it to the yard just now and had the broken riser replace in 15 seconds.I had the whole system up and running in lease than a minute.Extremely happy with this product. It is a must for anyone with a sprinkler system. Just be sure you know if you have 1/2 inch or 3/4 inch pipe.
