3-4-5-Minute Perfect Sand Timer

I am a huge tea aficionado who drinks tea both at home and at the office. While I’m perfectly happy setting an alarm at home to remind me when my tea is done steeping, when at the office it can be a bit jarring to have alarms go off, so I searched Amazon for something that would help me keep my tea properly timed while also not causing a disturbance at the office.Back in 2012 I purchased this perfect tea timer and have been using it ever since with no complaints. It is petite and looks nice with it’s stainless steel metallic finish. It includes three hourglasses for timing your tea: 3 min/light (green sand, great for green teas), 4 min/medium (white sand, great for white teas), and 5 min/strong (great for black teas).The timer is double-sided so that you can use it repeatedly without having to wait for the sand to move to a set side.The only drawback at all to this style of timing is that if you aren’t watching it, you might lose track of time and over-steep your tea, but that’s to be expected since this isn’t a timer with an audible alarm. I would just recommend you move it to somewhere particularly visible while you’re using it. The hourglasses have never clogged on me, and is still working as perfectly now as it did when I first purchased it over four years ago.For what it is, it’s honestly worked wonderfully for me over the years, and if you’re looking for a discrete way to time your various types of teas, I would highly recommend it.I am a longtime Amazon Prime customer who enjoys writing reviews in my free time. Saw this product in a restaurant and after using HAD to purchase - Makes a huge difference in getting the proper tea taste and very elegant product that is a conversation piece as well.Liked it so much I purchased two.

Nice little piece. Several inconsistencies. The sand color does not match the picture. My colors are green->brown->white. The black tea should be brewed the longest and white the shortest, so the colors should be white-green-brown. Make up your mind guys!Second, the times are pretty good but they are systematically different depending on which way is up. I ran four tries and here are the times: three minute 2:58/59/57/57; four minute: 3:48/58/45/58; five minute 4:58/59/57/58. All times are a few seconds short but very close to each other and the target except for 4-minute sand timer on side B--one way the times were 2 seconds short both times but in the opposite direction they were 12 and 15 seconds short.

Great way to time your tea! I came home from the Empress Hotel in Victoria, Canada. I wanted to get the same tea timer they used for afternoon tea for my home. This is the one!

I fell in love with a similar timer in the Azores and was so happy to find a quality version here. I love it! My mother-in-law loves hers very much as well.

The primary purpose of the hourglass is to be accurate. I was curious about how accurate the hourglasses were, and have timed them several times. The 3-minute glass is accurate to about 2-3 seconds (consistently runs out at about 2:58 or so). The 5-minute glass is accurate to about 3-5 seconds (consistently runs out at about 4:56 or so). The 4-minute glass, which unfortunately is the one I would prefer to use, consistently runs out at about 3 minutes 32 seconds.The set looks nice, but I paid a little more for it because I wanted an accurate one. The model I received was not what I hoped for.

Saw these in a brunch place a few weeks ago, had to pick one up. Awesome for timing your drinks.

The timer had the wrong color sand in the wrong glass, the orders were green, white, and brown at arrival. However, it should have been green, brown, and white.Not only the colors were in the wrong order, but the 3min and 4min obviously had the wrong amount of sand in it. (3min had more sand then the 4min)In conclusion, the product came all messed up. I never received such a horrible product that was all wrong in every way.
