Weck Tulip Jars 2.5 Liter - Glass Jars for Sourdough Starter, Canning, and Storage with Wide Mouth and Glass Lid (1 Jar)

Ordered this Weck tulip jar for my sourdough. I’ve been using a half gallon shirt mason-type jar for the past few years but the neck and shoulders of the jar were hard to clean with each feeding. I love the shape of this jar! Opening is large enough to get your hand inside for scooping and cleaning, glass is heavy and excellent quality and I love the lid. The rubber gasket and clips can be removed so your sourdough can breath but the lid is heavy enough to keep out unwanted fruit flies or contaminants. The shape really aides in getting a great rise from your sourdough starter. I’m sure this can be a GREAT functional jar for many other purposes but I’m happy I found this jar for my sourdough starter that was a wonderful value for the price!

These are the QUEEN of storage! You put cereal in these and it will last practically forever! A little heavy if you have younger children, but for us “older” occasional cereal lovers……perfect! Keeps if fresh and crispy for loooong periods of time! Anything you put in these stay fresh! Love them!

Size was nice. The jar was good is good. It’s a Christmas present for my daughter who bakes.

I used these to make Fiji-style water and would also get them all filled for hurricane prep. No plastic, thank you. As I’ve gotten older and arthritis has goiter worse, the 2.5L size was a bit heavy when full. I will adjust to a smaller size, soon. In the meantime, I can use these to store cereal, pasta, split peas, beans…anything I’d like that will work!

Perfect jar for sourdough for a family of 3

Initially, got a cheaper container from a Swedish store, but its attached glass lid make it a struggle. It was also a tiny bit too tall for my cupboard. Since it is used daily and Christmas ... oh well ... over time our water kefir will proof its worth =D

Im using this for bread starter. First time so I got this big one and Im happy I did. Hope the bread baby will be good once done. I named the starter Bready Prince JR. 😂
