Customer Support is incompentent
Your service is well intentioned, but highly ineffective. While actual humans are easy to reach, enthusiastic to help, seem to be knowledgeable, and were overall, quite excellent, the end result was horrible. I initially contacted Netgear on 12/3, regarding a modem that was fried in a recent power outage we had. It had been less than 30 days since purchase. And, I had purchased the one year extended warranty. So, I thought I could get a replacement fairly quickly. That was not the case. Even though I selected the expediated replacement option (next day delivery for an additional $29 fee), I got nothing. Nine days later, and my replacement has still not shipped. The very first tech to support me created two accounts in my name, with different email addresses. The first was a "comcast.net" account, which could not receive email from Netgear. I have no idea why. But, once that had been confirmed, I provided an alternate email address (gmail), that could successfully receive email from Netgear. Unfortunately, rather than simply editing the email address on file, your tech opened a separate account for me under the new email address. That account owned no product. So, that account could also not get a replacement. Every several days, I would get another email or text message asking for more information (proof of purchase, photos of the front, side, back, and bottom of the defective modem, and such). I sent those immediately. Still no replacement. Today, I was thrilled to hear from FedEx (not Netgear) that a return shipment label had been created. 8 hours later, the package that went with that label finally arrived at FedEx. Today, 10 days after my initial contact, I finally received my replacement modem. 10 days? Really? On a scale of 1-10, I would have rated Netgear with a 10 if I had received my replacement on the expected and paid for next day. Nope. Rating is now 9. The day after? Nope. Rating is now 8. Simple math here. Took 10 days to get the replacement, so my rating is one star out of a possible 10.Not happy. And, I feel you owe me the $29 fee that I paid for expedited service. I certainly did not get that.

No animals were hurt while installing this modem.
Let's all remember, this is a modem. It's not a router. For me, that's good as I have a router/firewall device on the other side. Because it's a modem, its sole job is to pass through the single DHCP address from Xfinity. Configuration is pretty simple, you plug it in. From there you have to hook up a laptop/desktop to it to get into its local config so you can get the MAC to send to Xfinity, then that's pretty much it.A few gotchas though. I have multiple VLANs setup in different rooms and I put this on a VLAN from the switch. It did not like that. It couldn't pass the IP address back to my firewall/router. I didn't spend too much time troubleshooting it, rather I just added a coaxial wire to the room where my firewall is located (which has a service panel close to the coaxial main). The product has worked well for what I need. I haven't noticed a decrease in performance over the old Xfinity modem/router/WiFi combo. I bought this because my Xfinity device died, and I have my own WiFi (Orbi), and I also have a complex 2 ISP configuration, which cannot be easily managed with the Xfinity router. The dumb modem allows me to solve most of my problems.I did run into one issue, not with the modem, with the service. Xfinity actually charges you more for using your own hardware than renting theirs. It's unfortunate. The device is great and I will pay the extra $5 per month (instead of saving $14 as expected). When they reconfigured the plan I went from 80mbps up to 40mbps up. This isn't the device, because I was getting great upload speeds before having them change the plan to include the customer-owned hardware. They said it was the hardware, but the hardware ran fine for a week. It turns out they throttled it and you have to call them and argue through it with them. This is important information because it's not the device, it's the service levels on their side, so if you see things that don't look correct after it's set up and verified, then it's probably on their side.

Great Performance. Needs a second cable port.
Title: Great performance, needs a second cable portDescription: Very easy to install. First one I got was a DOA, but got very good support in resolving the issue, and a replacement within 24 hours. The one disappointment is that there is only one cable output, and a second one would have been a major improvement (we owned their previous generation, and that one had 2 ports).
