A good buy...
Great sound, great look, be careful hooking these up, the terminals are easy to break, so handle with care...

Used for my surround sound from some vintage speaker cabinets!!
My 1972 Advent speakers cones were rotted away so I purchased these and when I tell you these were the perfect one for these vintage boxes you would have to be here to hear them!! They sound so good!! I had to purchase two more to use as midrange speakers for my Fisher 1976 cabinets!! These speakers uses a 15 inch woofer with these as a midrange and horn tweeters and the original Fisher crossover from that era!! Again..you would have to be here to hear them!!

Speaker connection posts are flimsy.
Utilizing these speakers in a small set of speakers I'm making for home theatre sound system. One of the flimsy connection posts was broken right out of the box. Two more broke while attempting to attach the female spade connectors. I contacted Pyle's customer service, the only thing I got out of that was a reply stating I would be contacted contacted shortly (which 2 weeks and 3 more emails later never happened) So now I've resorted to trying to repair with silicone.

Good midrange driver
I bought it for the following reasons: affordable price, paper cone, sealed back, with a pretty impressive 100W RMS power and no grid on the front side unlike a Goldwood GM-65/8I bought to replace my old 3 way "Radiotechnika S90" speaker's midrange driver 15GD-11A (made in USSR) result excellent replacement! There is no reason to compare, they are different classes: Pyle Pro PDMR5-5" is a well done midrange driver with great sound quality; 15GD-11A is single piece of metal, paper and rubber with sound like a phone handset. So I'm very pleased with my purchase. Now I'll get rid of my "Raduotehnika S90" and will build my own 3-wey speaker cabinet, definitely it will be with Pyle Pro PDMR5-5"***(3 month later) I already done speaker cabinet and the result you can see on the customer images.I use crossover 2-nd order with slope 12 dB/octave. Crossover frequency points: 750 Hz and 5 Khz. (bandwidth could be slightly wider, but I left a some margin)Frequency response is almost linear and balanced as far as I can hear (opposed my previous driver, which had terrible resonance overtone at 4,5 khz.) Sensitivity 92dB is more than enough for most of cases.I think this product has a good price/quality ratio and I would recomend it for most of buyers.sorry for my bad English

Fit my 1980's vintage RadioShack Mach 2 Speakers.
The foam on my vintage speakers had gone bad (dry rot) I used these to repair them. They worked well and sound great for my application.

Pretty good, works good but terminals are small.

This is a "MID RANGE" driver, 700hz and up. Not a "MID BASS" driver.
Note, these haven't been installed. They were just removed from their packaging and placed on the cutting board. Been in the audio industry for a little over 3 decades: High end h-fi theatre and auto. These were only purchased for a quick fill in until my high end 5" drivers come in.Issue one: There's a clean slice in the foam surround as seen in the photo. No, I didn't use any razor blades etc to unpack. This is important, as these 5" drivers are a sealed driver, meaning the back plate is one solid piece to eliminate internal frequency interference. THIS IS A MID DRIVER (700hz and up), not a MID BASS DRIVER.Issue two. Fs: this is stiffness of the cone/spider. Both are far different. You can gently push in the cone and it returns to neutral in a second or so (remember the drivers sealed from the back plate to the top) The other driver is incredibly stiff. It takes real pressure to get the cone down, and it returns to neutral in 2-3 seconds. This is not good. Each driver should be identical in their thielle/small parameters and physicals of the driver. As you know, they'll sound different.I won't say, "you get what you pay for", but this is just a bad circumstance on my end, no fault of my own.Cheers.
