I think I have never laughed out loud listening to a CD before. But I did. When I listened to the intermission song by Aaaardvarks. That's where the meaning of the subtext 'imaginary musical revue' really hit me. I have no children, I am not even a US citizen and had never heard of Sandra Boynton before. I was looking for Scott Bakula CD's when this CD popped up. I read so many positive reviews that I bought a copy for myself. I just love the music, the various performers and the very funny, clever lyrics of this CD. The musical styles, different performances and some very good singing and some less good singing by the performers (btw Bakula was a Tony nominated musical theatre singer before he was a well known actor as you probably know) ensure that I will not easily bore of this CD. Oh, I am not 43 (of course not and I will now look for someone 43 years old and test this CD on that person).

I was amazed to read a negative review of this CD! I've bought it for my two oldest grandkids (four and five), and they loved it. Actually, I got it when they were both around two; they loved it then and love it now. The five year old had sort of forgotten about it, because their CD got damaged (probably from overuse), but she rediscovered it at my house when she was here for a visit. Once that happened, she asked for it each time we got into the car. The first time one of my sons in law heard it (a very disciminating music critic), he said, "Hey, what IS that? I love that music!" So I would urge buying it for a great way to entertain kids in the car or out! It's great music with funny and clever lyrics, kids' music that won't drive you nuts the way the "music" of Raffi and others will do!

To say babies can't dance to it (read the negative review) is SOOOO wrong. How can you NOT dance to SWING?!! That's what its for!My twin babies (15 months) and I CRACKED up all through this CD. We were in the car so we didn't have our whole bodies dancing (the whole time), but I know the other drivers thought we were NUTS! We bounced, waved, clapped and sang throughout this entire CD!How very clever and smart it is -- lyrics are intelligent humour and the music (also clever) finds its roots in broadway, swing & blues. How can you not like a singing chorus line of cows and aardvarks?!I look forward to more...By the way, the cast list is exceptional - Kevin Kline, Meryl Streep, Patti LuPone, Eric Stoltz..........to name a few......

Got as a gift for my toddler grandchild and he loves the songs and likes to dance to them.

I first bought the Philadelphia Chicken CD and Book when my daughter was a very young child. I really enjoyed listening and dancing along with her to the music as the songs have lyrics and melodies that even adults can enjoy with their children. Our dog recently ate the CD and my 12-year old daughter was actually upset. Although she plays several instruments and is rapidly approaching the teen years, she still enjoys listening to the CD. So, I bought the CD, again, and she was thrilled when it arrived.

second copy purchased. originally i think i found this as a mark down product in the discount bin at hastings years ago. itt became a favorite for my children. recently i rediscovered this, reminded my boys, and we decided we need to keep this in the car again in life, even though my babies are not babies anymore. clever verses, happy songs.

Sandra Boynton manages to round up the best talents, the best music and the best production values and makes musical products that rock the world of children and the people who hang out with them. She can turn a phrase in such a way that grown-ups are instantly engaged and children sing along. Get them for the children in your life--or for your inner-child, you can't go wrong.P.S. Her music makes for perfect baby gifts...I've been invited to showers just because they know I'll bring these as gifts.

We love it! I can't stand all those crass and cheap kids music CDs. This one is truly wonderful, smart music and lyrics and characters. There are ballads, big-band toe-tappers, funny ones and love songs. We love the whole CD and have gone on to buy others by Sandra Boynton: rhinoceros tap and dog train.

Excellent product that has kept the grandchildren occupied and interested for ages !!!! The product has resulted in many early noisy mornings for the parents !!!!
