Is this traditional backlit keyboard?

It is backlit, but the lighting is not configurable. The colors are set and not adjusted at all. Think of a white bulb going through a colored gel may come out colored, but isn't like a traditional LED color backlit keyboard is configured.

can you adjust the colors or does it stay the same?

no change to color layout. you can adjust brightness and blinking rate. that's it.

Has anyone managed to scrape off the key paint yet?

The keys are translucent so the only way you can see the keys is to have the backlight on. otherwise the letters disappear into the surrounding black plastic. The only printed upon keys are the multimedia keys which often don't perform the functions printed on them anyway.

Does the color of the keyboard breath / pulsate

No. The colors are static, so the color scheme you see here do not alternate colors, they just dim a little and then light up if you toggle the "breathe" mode
