American Mathematics Competitions (AMC 10) Preparation (Volume 2)

My 11 year old is very good at math and is learning 4 years above her grade level in Kumon. However, since Kumon doesn't really do word problems or problem solving strategies she did not do very well on the AMC 8 exam. I bought this workbook for her to improve her skills along with the 1st and 2nd versions of the book. It had 5 chapters of different types of strategies for the problems in AMC and also included practice problems and explanations. I think if you complete a little every day, you will be very prepared for the actual AMC test in no time. I think my daughter loved the book and will perform much better on the next year's exam. Overall I am completely satisfied with my purchase. Thank you!

This is a very useful book to help prepare students for the types of questions that will be in either the AMC8 or the Math Counts competitions. Highly recommend. It's a relatively short book, but contains a large number of examples with good explanations. The topics covered in this book include the following:1. Transformations2. Consecutive integers3. Operations with decimals4. Sets and Venn Diagram5. Counting techniques6. DivisibilityOther resources that you should consider in your preparation include old AMC8 tests available from AOPS, online tutorials available for free from AOPS, and online courses from AOPS.
