I enjoyed reading about Coconut Grove as I lived there as a child. It was good knowing how some of the familiar streets got their name.

The Grove in black and white.
This book offers a visual journey through the history of one of Miami's oldest and most independent neighborhoods. Beginning with the early days of pioneer settlement and continuing up through modern day (2009) the authors tell the story of Coconut Grove's birth and growth through 127 pages of black & white photos with brief captions. This book is primarily visual and is by no means a comprehensive history of the area. However, if you have a genuine interest in Florida history, this will make a nice accompaniment to any collection of local lore.

Where is the Barnacle?
A delightful look at the history of this quirky Florida community-- full of characters whose descendants still play an important role in the civic vibrancy of Miami-Dade County-- we only wish that there were better pictures of the Barnacle-- a mystery as to how such an iconic building could have received such short shrift.
