The best space humidifier that I have ever owned
Over the years, I have used all kinds of humidifiers -- steam ones, ultrasonic ones, and evaporative ones. Tried them all. The steam one was the quietest, but it used a lot of electricity to boil the water and didn't generate very much vapor. May be for this reason, very few companies make steam humidifiers anymore. I have gone through a few ultrasonic units, too. They are popular, but they put a layer of mineral dust everywhere. Hated that. My previous evaporative humidifier used a very loud fan, and it didn't have a rotating drum to circulate the water. It didn't put out much humidity either. So, this time around, I took a chance with this Boneco model. It was between this and the Venta Air Washer. I have owned products by both of these brands before. They all seemed reliable -- like lasted more than a few years. This Boneco H400 has exceeded my expectations. It is the first and only humidifier ever that could raise my room humidity up to 40%. And I am not even at max fan speed. Honestly, max fan speed is a bit louder than I'd like, so I dialed back the speed by one level. The rotating drum does not make any noise at all. I have to refill the tank everyday. The tank is large and easy to fill if you have a deep sink. A fully filled tank is heavy, and you will definitely need that handle to help put it back in place. Cleaning is super easy so far, but my unit is less than a month old, so it isn't very dirty. As for the air purifying function, I really didn't buy this unit for that function. It was just a bonus for me. My house has MERV 13 filters in the HVAC and a standalone HEPA filter in the room. The air is very clean already. I think in my situation, one filter should be able to last the entire winter season. If your house is dusty, be prepared to have to change the filter a couple of times in a season. A clogged air filter will definitely reduce the air flow, and therefore reduce the effectiveness of the humidifying function.Lastly, the Boneco H400 has Bluetooth and it can communicate with a mobile app. Wait, what? Out of curiosity, I installed the app on my phone and connected to the machine via Bluetooth to check it out. The first thing it did was to download and update the machine's firmware. Yes, firmware. This machine has only one control, which is fan speed. Why does it need firmware update? Beats me. Turns out, the mobile app doesn't really do much. It displays the outdoor temperature and humidity based on your phone's location. It displays the indoor temperature and humidity, probably from onboard sensors. Lastly, it lets you change the fan speed or turn the unit on and off. In my opinion, this whole thing with Bluetooth and the mobile app for this type of machines is just a gimmick. Besides, adding auxiliary electronic components will surely increase the likelihood that something fails in the future. I'd rather Boneco saves the R&D dollars and passes the savings back to us.

Humidity control does not work
I really wanted to love this product, I have a U700 boneco humidifyer and could not be happyier over the last 5 years. Then I decided to get this additional upgraded unit, I bought the H400 humidifyer and air washer combo for my kids room. What a bad surprise, the humidity control does not work. I set it up to 55% target humidity and operation on hybrid automatic mode on the unit. After several hours running, without powering down I got curious and measured the room humidity, to my surprise it was at 64%...66% - measured by two independent devices in several locations in the room. The boneco unit was still showing 10% humidity (see app reading on the pictures attached), I refreshed the app and power cycled the unit, no change on the readings. The room temperature measurent was way off also, my Accurite and weather station measured a indoor temperature of roughly 70F and the boneco was showing a freezing 41F as indoor temperature. It's dissapointing to spend this ammount of money and not getting the basic fuctions, I'll be updating this review is something changes.

Outrageously overpriced, low performance, very disappointing
I had Air-O-Swiss ultrasonic humidifiers in the past and they were amazing. This giant cheap plastic hunk of useless is a far cry from what was a respectable product. If I could get my $800 back from these, I would, because they are noisy, move very little air, improve air quality barely at all, and do not add much humidity for the cleaning difficulty and noise they produce. For your air quality dollar, there are much better options available. These are worth about $40 each but instead cost 10x as much. Lesson learned.

Air washer is great but humidifier lacks punch.
PROS: The unit is compact, stylish, and easy to set up. I’ve had it less than a month and cannot comment on the cleaning process, though it appears to be relatively simple. It is super quiet on low speeds. I have not used the sleep setting because I am intentionally using it on higher fan speeds plus I sleep on another floor. The “air washer” has improved the air quality and my living room smells better. The high capacity water tank only requires filling once a day - with plenty of water to spare. The app makes things easy to set and monitor, however, I wish I could connect to wifi so I can monitor while away.CONS: The unit does not produce as much humidity as I would prefer. My home has radiators and is very dry in the winter. After running the unit on hybrid mode for 72 hours (in a 500 sq ft area) the humidity increased from 34% to 41%. I switched to humidifier mode for another 72 hours and the humidity increased from 41% to 45%. After weeks of use, the humidity has not risen aboveOverall I will keep the unit because the “air washer” alone is worth the cost and the humidity has improved - though I wish it were more productive.
