Jumanji 30th Anniversary Edition: A Thrilling Jungle Adventure About a Game That Comes Dangerously to Life

This is a very handsome book to add to your child’s collection – or to your own personal collection like I did. The black-and-white drawings on every other page are really outstanding and very beautiful to look at. They complement the story quite well. This is a sturdy book that is attractively designed. Kids will like the exciting, well-written story, too!

This is not a book about the 1995 movie Jumanji. This book is what the movie was loosely based on. It's a nice little story for very young children. Be aware it is describing a simpler time. You'll have to treat it like when you're reading fairy tales to them.

If you only know Jumanji from the movies, you'll be very surprised by this wonderful, gentle children's book. The illustrations and typesetting are beautiful. This is suitable for reading with your young ones. I'd say they need to be old enough to understand simple board games, and of course they need to know (or be able to understand an explanation of) what a monsoon and similar things are. The bonus audio track of Robin Williams is great. This is Williams at his most relaxed, making this almost a bedtime story. One caution: this story is set in an era when people would hold formal cocktail parties, so it has an antique feel to it. Youngsters might not notice or care.

I *love* the story of jumanji. It's fundamental to who I am as a person. I purchased two books. Neither book arrived with the audio cd of the narration and I will be returning. No wonder why this price was too good tool be true ~ false advertising Edit: i found the audio. the instructions are on the second page that says TO TOM S. Edit 2: if your pc has issues playing the audio file, right click on the file and open up properties. Rename the file to Jumanji.mp3 and it will work. This is an mp3 file and you have to label the file as such for your pc to read it.

Jumanji 30th Anniversary Edition. Hardcover. Like New Condition from Amazon Warehouse. Great concept, and well-told story. Be wary of who the seller is if you value maintaining books in fine condition. When I took the book out of the plastic wrap, it looked to be in good (not "like new") condition with some ruffling on the edges of the dustcover. However, as I carefully opened it and looked through it, more imperfections came to light. While my child read it to me, I insisted on holding it to avoid further damage. After the lion appeared, I noticed a crease on the front dustcover that hadn't been there before. When the python slithered away, the Caldecott Medal sticker began to lift from the surface and proceeded to coil. By the time the rhinos had receded, there was a slight tear near the spine that grew larger every minute. I put the book out of the way, high on a shelf, but I dread what damage I will find in the morning.

This is a classic book that brings back fond memories every time I read it with my children. This story is about two children who come upon a board-game in the park. When they bring the game home to play, the children realize that what they initially thought was going to be a boring game, becomes one where the players, and their house, become a part of the game. Mr Van Allsburg is both the author and illustrator of this book. He is able to create details with his words and illustrations that resonate with readers of all ages. I still enjoy looking at the pictures and reading about all the havoc the games causes. Finally, I like that the story has a subtle lesson embedded in it.

子供向けの絵本ですが楽しめました！ 映画の原作となった絵本のようで、内容は映画よりもちろん短いしエピソードも少ないですが、雰囲気はとても出ていて、面白いです。 ただKindle版はかなり読みにくいです。文章がもう少し拡大できれば…文章も実物画像のままというか、一段階しか拡大できないため、iPhoneのKindleアプリで読むと、画面を横向きにした上で、文字が1〜3mmまでしか拡大できない感じでした。

Libro cortito en inglés, para niños. Divertido, recomendable. Más simple que la película. Para edades hasta 8 años.

Was so happy to get this for my girls who love the Jumanji movies. Something to treasure for a long while.
