Perfect for AKAI MPK249
Needed an adapter to power my midi keyboard directly instead of having to rely on power via my MacBook via the USB hub. Works well! Price is also awesome.

Works on Akai MPK 49 and NordicTrack commercial 400
Works as advertised, 6 volts @ 2 amps. Works with both my Akai MPK 49 and my NordicTrack Commercial 400 bike. Now my midi keyboard no longer has to share with my exercise bike :) Arrived the next day. It comes sealed in a nice little box that can be reused for almost anything!

No you won't blow up your keyboard with a 2 amp power supply
Power supply is great. It's rated for 2 A, but the current draw depends on the voltage and resistance. Basic Ohm's law. If your keyboard is rated for 1A it will only draw 1 A. Doesn't matter if your power supply is rated 2 A or 2000A. In fact, it's nice that it has extra capacity in case your keyboard (or any electronic device) for whatever reason needs to draw a bit more current. Just make sure the voltage is correct, which in this case is 6 V. Now as to reliability of the power supply, that's an entirely different matter. I haven't seen an electronic device that some reviewers claim was DOA or lasted only a few months. I've never had a problem with any of the dozens of power supplies I've purchased over the years, but there's always a change you'll get a dud no matter what you're purchasing.

Works for Akai MPD32
If you want to use your MPD without plugging it into a computer (for use with a DAW), then you'll need a power supply. This one works great with the MPD32. This will allow you to use the MPD as a controller with other MIDI devices (samplers, etc) Don't worry that it can supply 2A vs the 1A specified by Akai for the MPD32. This won't damage the MPD in any way. What's important is that it supplies the required 6V.
