The ladies liked it!
My last trimmer was a 2 yr old inexpensive Wahl. It worked ok, but I guess I overcharged the battery, as it won't run any longer. So, I decided I'd try a pricey one this time. The Norelco is a cool gadget. It even has a laser! So, it gets 3 stars just for the being coolest trimmer. But the fact is, it also works great, or has so far (about 6 weeks). The length adjustments are easy to set. You can try different ones to see what works best for you. I like my beard short. The guard works well with the length setting. You can use the trimmer head in different positions for nose, eyebrow, and ear hair. The laser light works with the trimmer head off. You pop it up and it shows a red line where you can set the edge of your trimming. It may be a little silly to spend this much money for a trimmer, but so far it has worked very well and as advertised. Oh, and while playing at a bridge tournament, a couple of ladies did comment that they thought my beard was trimmed very nicely. There you go!

No other trimmer yet is better
This is truly an excellent beard trimmer. I was weary on the usefulness of the laser when i bought this, but it really helps get the exact line you want.It is also just a great product! i have had three other beard trimmers, this one has the best motor, feels solid and well made. because of this great build quality the blade doesn't pull on hair at all when trimming. The adjustments for length are also very well done, on my previous trimmers if you didn't hold it just right against your face you would change the length of the trim, this one resolves that issue and makes it simple to get an even length all the way around

9100 Beard Trimmer
This beard trimmer has a good grip that allows the hairs to be brushed off (unlike some other trimmers - Wahl lithium i'm referring to you). The laser guide is a great addition. I thought it was just another useless bell and whistle but it really does help me guide the trimmer and keep the cuts straight. A charge seems last a good long time too. I've had it for about 1 month and have experienced no issues. I replaced it after my 2nd Wahl lithium ion all in one trimmer broke -- that was 2 Wahl's in 6 months. Granted, this Norelco 9100 is about twice the price but I guess you get what you pay for...

Philips Norelsc BT9285/41 9100 Beard Trimmer
May 10, 2014Dear Sir or Madam:I chose this particular item (BT9285/41 9100) in hope of finding a beard trimmer that functions to my satisfaction. The last trimmer I bought was a Norelco, model number QG3270. It did not perform how I had hoped. The closest setting did not trim my full beard in the sightest. Very little hair was removed from my full beard. In the past I puchased a Norlco beard trimmer (model# T7900) which was unfortunately discontinued. That trimmer lasted me for about 15 years. I trimmed my beard and also used it for a haircut with great satisfaction. As you can tell, I am a fan of Philips Norelco.Until now, I have been displeased. Fortunaly, the BT9285/9100 came along and I am very well satisfied. I only used it twice, and it trims and cuts much better. I will use it again tomorrow with pleasure. Th laser is a neat innovation which in time I am sure I will adapt.I was surprised that the trimmer did not come with a case, and perhaps some more attachments. Otherwise, I am satisfied with my puchase.I would appreciate it if you can give me some moer information on recharging. According to the instructions, you must run down the full charge during the first use before recharging. It does not say if you may recharge before running down the battery. Neverless, this is a big improvement from the last model aforementioned.Sincerly,Robert M. Ellenbogen

Only trims to stubble length at its tallest setting. Laser is useless. Dont waist the money.
I purchased this from target almost 2 years ago. I was new to the beard game having only 1 trimmer before but now i am experienced and i have some advice to all you men out ther shopping for a beard trimmer. I knew this trimmer was a mistake during the first use. Im just stuck with it now target wouldnt let me return it because "it was used on your beard and cannot be re-stocked on the self for sanitation reasons". At its longest stetting it is literaly a stubble trimmer. If you are rocking the stubble look then this will be good because it has alot of short length settings. But if your beard has ANY LENGTH AT ALL AVOID THIS TRIMMER. The cutting head is okay quality. Self sharpening but it can easily cut you and has cut me countless times. It is double sided so good for small details. Cuts well. Fairly powerfull but the battery has a short life. Attention guys, the lazer is absolutly useless. It doesnt even line up with the cutting head. What am i suposed to line it up to if it doesnt sit at the same level of the cutting head? You can use it but you have to learn how to and train your eye to stop above where where the lazer line is because it will cut lower than the line, resulting in each cut being lower than the last. But the thing is, for what you paid YOU SHOUDLNT HAVE TO learn how to use it with a design flaw. Its just an excuse to slap on a higher price tag. Its a good idea executed poorley. If it lined up with the edge of the cutting head it would work well. But it fails to do so. Spend half the price, the remington munti atatchment grooming kit works better and can acctualy handle a beard of mann'ly proportions.

The creator of this trimmer must not have a beard
The engineer must not have a beard...It is fancy and the battery does seem to last nicely so far ... but the beard guard was made poorly and fills with hair almost immediately. If you use the guard without the full enclosure you will likely gouge a big hunk of your hair out... I have done this twice. I know I shouldn't use the thing but I don't like opening the guard every stroke to clean it out so I used the open one and it is not good for beards, or anything else you cannot be perfectly flat against at all moments.I have been trimming beards since I was a lad, about 30 years now, and I haven't found a lousier guard on any product. I have owned much worse made products overall but really? After the investment in the rest of the unit why not top it off with a decent guard that can make the actual trimmer work well for its intended purpose.

Quite possibly the best trimmer I've ever used
Quite possibly the best trimmer I've ever used. Don't let anyone tell you the laser is a gimmicky as it is very useful. I only wish it came with all the other attachments like the cheaper versions do.

missing storage pouch
Product is as advertised, but it did not come with a travel pouch as the description states. I travel a lot and don't have any other pouches that'll fit this thing and I don't want it and its accessories bouncing around in my suitcase. There's also no way to leave seller feedback to amazon so I've gotta hope they see this review.
