Real medical care when doctors are days away!
I'm a general internist.I checked out the first edition of this book when I planned to market a first aid kit for blue water sailors. I am giving a copy of this later edition to a friend who will be isolated in the third world for months. Along with a Merck Manual to supply missing details and a well stocked medicine chest, this is the non-medical person's next best thing to having a physician along

Just what I was looking for.
Perfect for cruisers or offshore sailors. Information that is concise and easy to understand . Granted, I never want to have to use it, but nice to have a book that covers medical situations that could happen on board beyond that requiring your basic 1st aid.

This is the one you want
Glad Doziers recommended it. I was lost trying to find a decent book for initial provisioning of our boat. First couple I bought over internet turned out to be a complete waste of money & time! Finally this book was mentioned in Dozier's Waterway Guide (thank you) - I finally updated ours after a few years since often things don't change year-to-year in the cruising guide, but glad I found this "tidbit" in last year's edition. Not perfect, but Much Better than all the others I've seen.

No EMS out here.
Working on the water, you need a guide that will tell you what it is and what to do. This does it. Would be nice if more color pictures and spiral bound. Needs to be updated, but good starting point for all cruising mariners

Serious First Aid for Far Offshore
Good hands on emergency medical text which could save a life. Details handling much more serious crises than typical first aid books. Have your physician check it out, however, and recommend appropriate updated meds. The author's list is out of date and in some cases is no longer appropriate.
