Plantronics 83543-01 Savi Office W730 Headset

I love this headset! It is comfortable to wear, but also very useful..I have it linked to my landline (of course), to my computer, and to my cell phone. It is great to be able to listen to music from my computer, then to click a button to answer either my landline, or my cell.Update May 2013: Been using this for about 9 months, still love it, but plan on buying the interface cable every 6 or 7 months if you use it much. This seems to be a weak point (the connector to the base). We have a couple of these headsets in the office, and have had to buy replacement interface cables for each. You can find them for about $13. Still well worth it, and will continue to replace the old headsets with these!

I traded in my Voyager 750s for the Savi as I needed to support both a conventional desk phone and an IP soft phone for my new job. The ability not only to switch between the two, but to setup the SPOKES software to prioritize what audio source takes precedence in any given case is very cool. You can also manually control which line you're connected to by just pressing the appropriate button on the base. Range is very good and as long as I put it back in the base when I'm not using it I've run 18 hour days without issue.While unrelated to this product, I had an issue with my Voyager 750s not charging - I gave them the serial number and my address and just like that they shipped a new unit. I have never had a problem with a Plantronics product that they did not fix right away and as far as I'm concerned I'm a lifetime customer.

I am an extremely busy executive and I don't have the time and frequently must use both hands when talking on the telephone to pick up the phone, interrupt my work, and answer the landline.The thing that separates headset from all other head handsets on the market is that not only can you answer your landline... you can via Bluetooth connect your to your cellular telephone and incorporate computer via USB into this one device. All these features are accessed on the button console of the Savi Headset base station. I have never had a problem with my battery dying... I use my phone all day long. I just put the headset back on the base station during lunch. Not that it needs this... I just want to be careful.So while I'm at work, I am able to answer my landline when it rings (and I do have about 10 telephone lines with a Samsung telephone at) and should my cellular telephone start ringing I don't have to remove the headset to answer it, as well as the fact that unit incorporates itself into my computer and can be used with voice recognition software... On this particular device, you will need to purchase a compatible handset lifter which I think I paid about $75 for.***UPDATE: I am always looking for the most cutting edge and most technological advanced electronic devices available on the market... money no object. That being said, I have not been able to find a headset that outperforms the Savi for my demanding day-to-day usage. I still own the headset and use it every day and there is none better to be found. I've had this headset for a very long time now and feel this product needs an update by someone who who has history of this product uses by saying this device and all that it does is used daily by me... No battery problems as electronic things that run on batteries tend to lose their original battery power working time... all of which is just to say that this Savi performs it just like it did when I bought it. As I said in my earlier review, it answers my telephone, my cellular telephone and I can use it for Dragon NaturallySpeaking voice recognition software for my computer without taking it off my head.Bottom line... If you are on the phone almost constantly every day and would like the added convenience of not having to take this headset off to use your cellular telephone and need to interact with your computer... The Savi is your answer, this is the product that will do it all.I feel that this headset system has made my day today activites in the office much more productive.Of all my reviews on Amazon, this product is the most significant product that I have used and I have given the Plantronics Savi the highest review and praise of any other product t that I have ever rated o0n Amazon.ADDITIONAL NOTE: There is another product available from Amazon.com that works beautifully with this headset. I have people coming in and out of my office and while I am wearing wearing a headset they can't always tell that I'm using my telephone. The PLANTRONICS SAVI HEADSET ONLINE INDICATOR is a small device placed on your desk that is completely compatible with the Savi Headset that flashes Blue when you're on your headset allowing others see that you are using your phone. The two Devices I feel work i harmony to get the most out of your telephone experience.

UPDATE: After 10 months of average use (about 2 hours a day) the battery in the device has degraded to the point that the headset will only hold a charge for about 20 minutes. After some online searching it turns out that the battery CAN NOT be replaced. The only apparent options is to buy a new headset, which costs on average around $170 (more than half the original devices costs). I obviously expected to get more than 10 months of use from a $250 product. The device works well, but I can't recommend this to anyone given its costs and the fact that its impossible to replace the battery.ORIGINAL POSTI use it several times every day and it does exactly what it says it does. Voice quality has been very good in all three modes. It does not work with my Nexus 7, but it has worked with everything else including my Nexus 5 without issue so I tend to think its an issue with my Nexus 7, not this device. The range is much better than I expected. I haven't exactly measured the max distance, but I would guess I have been able to use it 30 feet away from the base through walls before the signal disappeared. The battery life on the ear piece is at least over 2 hours.The only significant problem that I have is sometimes if I am moving a great deal (like walking down the stairs) the device will develop some kind of strange feed back or buzzing on my side and it becomes hard to hear the other person. This has never happened when I was sitting still. It doesn't happen often enough that I consider it a major issue, but you might want to think twice before buying this model if you are planning on using this for web presentations where you will be walking around alot.

I would not recommend this product. While it is nice to use to pair mobile device as well as deskphone, I found it immensely cumbersome. It is not that easy to switch from mobile to desk phone. Finally, it got so ridiculously troublesome, I threw it away. I wasn't able to grab calls. I was a constant pain - very frustrating.Perhaps they need to amend the compatibility of this device in advance.

Just what is needed for "call center" type of environment!

It is too big, also there was no description that it can only used in Office only, you can not travel with it. It says 300 feet however it only works for 150 or 200 max. Other thing is you need to be in your cabin while any other phone rings as you need to press related button on the device to switch phones. 300 feet is not at all useful as you can not roam around or call without device as it should automatic switch or bip or something when any of three connected device rings. But it doesn't work that way. Returning the product.
