Perfect
I started gaming again on pc after many years. To my surprise, there weren't many hard mouse pads. When I used to game I loved my icemat and funcpad. I tried a bunch of the popular mouse pads that many of the well known gamers used qck heavy, qck+, G640, GSR Hyperx Fury S, destructor, Glorious gaming race, gigantus, and the goliathus. I wasn't happy with any of them because they were all too slow (except the destructor, which was too small). So I ended up getting this one, because while the reviews weren't that great, the majority of the bad reviews centered around the mousepad being rolled up and placed into the box. I randomly heard that zowie was now shipping these in a flat box instead, so I decided to give it a try. I was very happy that I did! This is definitely my new favorite mousepad and I urge anyone who doesn't like how muddy cloth pads feel to try this one. I'm also happy I found this before purchasing some of the other pure hard mousepads, like the GP3 Heaton, because I like how this is a hybrid between a hard pad and a soft. It's pretty comfortable for how fast the surface is. I wrote some quick reviews on the other mousepads that I've tried. I'm going to paste it here in case you were wondering how different they might be: When comparing these pads I’m comparing them to each other. So if I say one feels slow or fast it's just in comparison to other pads in this list. This can vary from person to person and also depending on the mouse you are using. G640 Medium initial friction (slightly more than the qck) Medium dynamic friction Very smooth. Not grainy or uneven like some other pads. Glide feels amazing. If you like the qck I feel like this is a nice step up. Feels very premium except no stitched edges (I prefer not having stitched edges) Lays very flat right away Logo is raised and can get in the way My second favorite on this list is the G640 because of how smooth it feels. The only reason I didn’t stop there and just use it as my main is because I didn’t like the amount of initial friction. If you like the GSR or the qck or some of the razer pads, then I would definitely try this. It doesn’t have as much initial friction of the GSR. Price is on the higher side. Qck+ Medium initial friction Medium dynamic Feels grainy Lays flat right away No frills and good price (especially during a sale). This is a great mousepad to figure out if you like more or less friction because it’s kind of in the middle of all the popular cloth pads. Glorious Low to medium initial friction Low to medium dynamic friction Feels a little bit grainy, but not as much as the qck. Have a ton of different choices in sizes and thickness. The glorious is in my opinion the best all around pad here. There is some friction, but not too much. The price is good (especially during sales). The sizes are amazing. The availability is good. For me it just isn’t fast enough. Surface kept the same speed after a while of use and a couple of cycles in the washing machine. I used the low impact setting and gentle detergent. Hyperx Fury S Pro Low initial friction Low-medium dynamic friction Hard to roll flat (3 days of books and 1 day of rolling backwards with rubber bands and it still was not flat) Was surprised at how fast this one was. Not much initial friction compared to G640 and qck. Loses some of the speed after a short period of 3-4 weeks. The hyperx felt good in terms of speed for me, but the fact that it wore down so quickly and never laid completely flat made me want to keep looking. Zowie GTFX Very low initial friction Very low dynamic friction Ships flat now My personal favorite is the GTF-X because I really like hard and speed pads. I’d like to keep trying pads in this speed range next year to see if there’s anything else I might like now that I know what I’m looking for. I place more importance on tracking than on quick flicks. I have a hard time aiming regularly if there’s too much initial friction, which is why I love this pad so much. It lets me make micro adjustments quickly, which I have a hard time doing with some of these other pads. I definitely understand why some people might not like it because they have a hard time controlling their flicks. Razer Gigantus This one is a pretty cool surface, but just too much initial friction. It’s like the GSR, but with a bit less initial friction and still a TON of stopping power. The raised logo is pretty big. Multiple designs if you shop on the razer site. A bit expensive Similar to the G640, but the Gigantus doesn’t feel as smooth. Gigantus has a little more stopping power. Stitched edges (I believe some of the designs can be purchased without stitched edges, but I don’t have that one) Razer Goliathus Speed (Overwatch Edition) This felt a lot like the Glorious to me. Feels good all around. Maybe a little bit smoother without as much graininess as the glorious. The friction feels about the same. Razer Destructor I used an original destructor for a while. It was my first pad after using Allsop pads many many many years ago. I really like the destructor and could see myself using it as my main if it was a bigger size. Some pads I want to eventually try Artisan Raiden XL MID Custom glass pad? Any recommendations for fast pads??? Some pads you might want to try (They are probably not fast enough for me) DM Pad L PureTrak Talent AMP500 (I really want to try this one, but it’s probably going to be between the speed of the GTF-X and the other pads on this list, so I will probably pass even though I might like it)

"Hybrid" pad is misleading
When I heard that the GTFX is a hybrid material of cloth and hard pad, I thought this would offer a perfect balance of speed and control/stopping power. For those of you unaware, "hard pads" are generally made of a plastic-like material that is very fast. It's often argued that hard mouse pads offer way too much speed and there isn't any level of control. Traditional cloth pads can vary in speed, but generally never labeled as "fast". Well the GTFX combines those materials I suppose and don't be mislead when you hear that this is a hybrid pad. It's on the fast side. I would argue that it's very fast, favoring speed over control by a 2:1 or even a 3:1 ratio. I myself am a huge fan of the GSR which is a slow control centered pad. Initially, I did not like the GTFX. It was confusingly fast and expected something much slower. In time, I adjusted and this adjustment period took me roughly one full week of daily use to familiarize myself with it. I now love this thing and it has been my main for a while and probably will be for a long time. It's great for tracking but does lack the stopping power needed for games like CSGO and Valorant in my opinion. You can still use the GTFX in click-timing games, but you'll need to spend a lot of time learning how to have a level of your own stopping power. Even though this is a very fast pad, I do feel like it's versatile and a safe option for most people. However, this is a great option for you if you are into tracking dominant games primarily. Quality is also noteworthy. I'd rather buy a half dozen of these or any mouse pad over spending my money on an Artisan. This is a great option if you had your eye on an Odin or Artisan of any kind. These keep their feel and hold up over the long term unlike the GSR which slows down dramatically within a few months.

Gift for my husband
He is picky about everything, so getting this mouse pad after intensive researching paid off. He rarely accept items he received from family and friends. For example, his excuses on returning clothes are, he doesn't like the texture, thickness, size, the way it looks, fit, color, smell, etc This item, it sits perfectly flat on his desk, color matches with his desk, it is easy to clean, mouse rolling on the pad smoothly, and etc. I didn't ask him in detail, how it feels when he is playing games but he has no complain so far. He doesn't need much area when he is playing, this size is just perfect. Durability wise it supposed to stay the way it is pretty long, but if not? He can get another one. I am not worrying about how long it will last as long as it can last 6 month since he is playing games for fun. It has been only a few weeks but he didn't complain.
