So far so good.
I have ran all my knives through this sharpener. And needless to say they all come out sharper.Motor is not noisy and it has a debris clean out spot that is nice to help keep unti clean inside. Use for all butchering knives for deer, cow and pigs. Would recommend.

High quality device to sharpen knives
I'm just an amateur home cook but every now and then I feel my knives getting dull. I usually take them to Sur La Table to be sharpened but was interested in being able to do it at home myself. I've purchased knife sharpeners before as gifts and they were less than impressive, so I was excited to try this Ultra-Edge Diamond and Electric Knife Sharpener from Mueller. I was worried that the base didn't have suctions or a crank stabilizer (found on apple corer devices), but the machine is designed with a safe place to put your hand while cutting, and I didn't find it to be moving during operation. The instructions are clear as to how to use the device, with both slots on the 1 and 2 side, as well as how many passes are required for each, depending on the dullness of the knife. The device does have a catch for the shavings and a safety in case it overheats. Everything is clearly stated in the instructions. After sharpening, I could see where the blade had been sharpened, and I tested it on tougher tomatoes, as that usually is a good determiner on how sharp a knife is (for me). If I have to really push and make a few passes before the knife breaks the skin, it's not sharp. If it cuts through easily, it is.Obviously I'm not a professional chef or blacksmith, but found this device to work well on my knives. I ran about 7 knives of varying sizes and brands through.

Machine leaves a rough edge
As a knife maker, it is a fact that any electric knife sharpener, including the Mueller, will not give you a finished edge. That is, a finished edge without a burr. This is not unique to the Mueller knife sharpener but is instead, the nature of all electric knife sharpeners.Let me explain:The burr to which I refer is simply the result of the last pull of the knife through whatever machine you are using. If your last pull of the blade is on the right side of the machine, the burr will naturally occur on the opposite, or left side of the blade. This is where the rotating stone is.You can try and sharpen your knife until the cows come home and no matter what, your knife will always end up having a burr, on one side or the other. You can easily feel the burr with your finger.Removing this burr with a strop is essential to getting a sharp edge. I recommend using a piece leather that is designed for this purpose although I remember my Dad using a piece of 320 grit wet dry sandpaper to remove the burrs on his knives. A simple hand-held knife sharper with the V stones will also remove the burr because both sides of the blade are being sharpened simultaneously.Whatever works, as they say.My disappointment with the Mueller is simply that the final step of de-burring is completely ignored in the instructions. It shouldn’t be. De-burring is essential to getting a sharp edge.

An upgrade from the knife-sharpening stone; old lady sharpened a total of 8 knives in 2 half-hours
Using a knife-sharpening stone and repeating the same motion hundreds of times was becoming increasingly hard on my almost-70-year-old mother's joints. We therefore opted for an electronic one (vs. manual) and were able to sharpen 4 knives each, in 2 half-hour sessions, from reading the instructions to cleaning up. The noise level was tolerable, but ear plugs always help. The appliance feels quality for the price and easy to operate for an old lady. A little skill at directing the sharp bottom blade of the knife at the grinding stone (vs. just pushing the flat side of the knife against the slot) was sort of required for better outcome; but that was easily developed. Clean up was easy. Knives got sharpened. Time will tell how well this really works. But for now, we are happy with the purchase and wished we had bought it sooner.

Hey, just get it!
I've used a few different tools for sharpening kitchen knives. And had little to no success with any of them. Hey, lousy tools do lousy work. This thing is motorized, but is no bigger than one of the non-motorized tools I bought. It took a little practice to put the knife in and keep it pressed against the guide. I still get it in wrong occasionally. But if I'm careful, and in no hurry, I now get some seriously sharp knives for the wife to use. Is a wonderful experience, to work in the kitchen with a truly sharp cutting tool.I'm sure other tools, with a lot more expense and more user expertise, can probably get a sharper edge. But this thing will be a revelation to someone who's never had a decent edge on a kitchen knife.Don't buy the cheaper junk that doesn't move the cutting edge for you, and relies on just the movement of the knife in the sharpener. Get this thing, and enjoy!

Outstanding Customer Service
When it comes to knife sharpeners I have normally bought Chefs Choice but have not been really impressed so I decided to try this Mueller sharpener. I was not expecting a lot given that the price of the unit was almost half of Chefs Choice cheapest model. That said thus far I have been very pleasantly surprised and am really impressed with the sharpness of the blade after just a few passes.I had occasion to contact THE LAST STORE from whom I bought the Mueller knife sharpener. I was delighted to hear back from Kevin Thorpe from Customer support within 12 hours who answered my questions and was terrific to deal with. I also learned from Kevin that this knife sharpener comes with a 3 year warranty so I am very happy with my purchase.

Los afiladores eléctricos son más eficientes cuando no se sabe afilar manualmente.
Además de contar con un afilador eléctrico hay que contar con un cuchillo de buen acero. Si la calidad del cuchillo es mala, el afilado dura poco.
