I find using a roll much more convenient if you are doing large probects - last one onto cardboard as backing for a picture. Previous to reinforce an old paperback book about 50 cm long with mending tissue. I am not worried about the cardboard, although this is.Trying to find which is in sheets and which sold in a a roll is annoying. Am I right in thinking that there is a change of brand, and hence the problems. I have been using heat activated adhesive for many years for a wide variety of tasks - none sewing, and never had this problem before, although I recognise the boxes, (As a tip, a little craft iron on maximum is sufficiently hot with good pressure to work. I also have an old fashioned sleeve ironing board. Means the full ironing board is not needed and everything is done on a work top.) Made some very successful jigsaw puzzles for people with dementia using photos of familiar places in the town. Layed 3/4 sheets of white card and a picture, and cut into different triangular pieces. (Enlarge images as near as possible A4)> Have also mad wooden window jigsaw puzzles using prints) Always make sure I have some in the house..

I like this product. I use it when doing applique.
