Great battle fun, until they fall apart
Update: It is over a year later and some of these swords are still around! The “lightsabers” have completely held up (other than the plastic at the bottom) and the double sided ninja ones are also great (we eventually found the second on under a bed). Everything below in the original review stands except that I probably would purchase again since at least some of them are still usable. We really enjoy these swords. They are the soft foam that doesn’t hurt (or at least injure) even with REALLY hard hits. Unfortunately the soft foam and glue doesn’t hold up to the aggressive level of play my 5 year old likes. Considering the price of these compared to the other ones we got of the same material these probably should only get 3 stars, however the other features make up for it. We love the different varieties. The double sided ones are fun (though we somehow lost one very quickly 😝) and we have decided the red and blue ones are light sabers. These really are also child size. This is great for our use, and important to note that these aren’t great for adult costumes. To better explain how they fall apart- On the samurai sword, the handle paint decoration was gone on night one By day two they were beginning to show wear at the part where the plastic tube ends inside they blade. This is a big problem because it can make them less safe. We end up putting painters tape around them to be able to safely continue to use them. Within the next few days some of the glue where the blades attached to the handle started to fail and the blades slide up the plastic rod. We have not tried glueing them back together yet. Also at some point little foam plugs come out of the ends. Not a problem for use, but a choking hazard for other littles. Lastly, the plastic at the bottom of the handles has broken on some of them. This also doesn’t effect the use but does create sharp plastic pieces that need to be picked up. The pictures show the samurai sword. One side that is damaged that my son put scotch tape on and I pulled the handle down to show how it separates. Then I put it back together and showed the other side. These swords would be awesome if all that happened was the paint on the handle came off! Considering they fell apart I would not buy these again, though I am glad I made the purchase once.

Good if you have gental children
They all broke within the week. If you have a rough toddler, these will not hold up.

A well rounded disappointment
I WANT to leave a higher review but these are rated a bit too high as is. As others have stated, the swords are in the 12-14 inch range and are built quite cheaply. The display pictures seem to be stretched so the foam swords appear longer. 5-3 inches doesn't sound like much, but These are for 3-5 year olds, and not really anyone else. Older children would tear these apart in a day.

Safe for inside or outside
These foam swords are very well made. The grandkids love playing with them inside and outside.

Good value for the price & variety
Good value for the variety. They’ll fall apart quickly with heavy use, but so do most foam toys like this.
