Leather Skiver
I bought this to skive small straps, belt ends and watch bands. This little guy works great for skiving all kinds of leather even some of the more stuburn oil tanned leather. To make it easier to handle or manage I screwed mine down to a piece of 2" x 6" wood scrap wrapped in scrap leather and I use a wood clamp to hold it still on my consew sewing machine table. Like any tool, it takes practice to make it work the way you want it to work. When I have time I'll pick up some 4" bolts to mount it to my consew table so I can ditch the wood clamp, I'll probably use eyelet bolts and wing nuts so I can remove it when I want to use the sewing machine on leather totes or long belts. The little knive that comes with it is amazing too, it was razor sharp and holds a edge pretty well, no rust to speak of and sharpens well.

Dangerous Junk
First and foremost, if you're not careful, this will slice you right open. It is not well designed, at all. The razor blade is sticking out just enough to cut you open, if you happen to slip or brush against it. The blade attachment is not easy to adjust. There's no real way to get it set at a correct angle, and it seems that no matter how much I adjusted it, it either just takes small chunks out of the leather, or slices right through it. I've been dealing with this thing for two days now, with horrible results, wasted leather, and a sliced thumb.Save your money. You're either going to hurt yourself, or ruin all your leather.

Love the concept…execution needs tweaking
I love being able to skive and split leather straps, and to a small degree the edges of leather using this splitter. I do quite a bit of leatherwork and this splitter has saved me a bunch of time. It’s easy to use and easy to mount on a 3/4 inch of plywood to put it away and set it up when needed. Only two complaints. It is made to work with razor blades that stick out and will indeed cut you if you aren’t careful. The manufacturer should have place a small guard I’ve the edge of the blade that sticks out and is not used. I covered the edge with some layers of tape to prevent accidental cuts. The other complaint is that the rollers fall out too easily when using. Kind of a pain to keep looking on the floor for them when they fall out, and then risking a nice slice on the finger when slipping them back into place. All in all I am happy with the purchase and would be more than glad to give it 5 stars if it were I little better designed with the end user in mind rather than just slapping out a product that isn’t quite finished. I do recommend this splitter, but urge caution when using it since the manufacturer did a poor job at making it user friendly.

Easy to use!
Does exactly what it's supposed to do. Very sharp blade so be careful. I had to skive a 7/8 strip of leather from 3.9mm down to 2.5mm the tool work flawlessly after I made the adjustments I needed.

Not for thin leather, dangerous design
The blade housing on this skiver is exteremely dangerous. The razor blade is exposed top and bottom, roughly 1/8 " in both directions. On top of this flaw, this skiver only skives downto about 1mm, which isn't thin enough for the items I make.

Simple but sturdy
Very simple device seems sturdy. Comes with 6 blades, one already installed, and four rollers. The roller and blade on this unit don't look parallel, but raising the roller shielws it to be pretty close.Take note of the top right corner - the corner of the blade is exposed and can lead to a nasty slice. A piece of cardboard or tape on the blade may help.It DOES skive, clamp/bolt it down and get to cuttin'.
