I believe in building up grip strength (eg through dead hangs), but for certain things like DLs, I don't have a problem with using straps. I have small hands so I didn't know what type of strap was best. I purchased these Figure 8s, as well as the "regular" straps. In trying both, I simply had an easier time using the Figure 8s, and they fit perfectly. I purchased the size small, even though the sizing puts me at the bottom end of the mediums (my wrist measures 15.5 cm). I've kept the regular straps as a backup, but it's the figure 8s that come with me to the gym. They work great for doing deadlifts with a barbell or dumbbells.

take smaller than your size because the sizes are big

I’ve been using Gymreapers figure 8 straps (size S) for a while and loved my older pair—great support, dense weave, and minimal wrist discomfort even during heavy deadlifts or shrugs. Unfortunately, the newer pair I just received feels like a step backward. The weave is visibly looser and thinner than before. While the dimensions look the same, the material feels flimsier and bites into my wrists more when under load. There’s clearly less structure and padding compared to the previous generation, which distributed pressure more evenly. This may be a cost-cutting change in materials or manufacturing, but it’s definitely noticeable if you’ve used the earlier version. I still think they’re usable—but they don’t offer the same comfort or confidence under heavy lifts.
