Is there any filter for Golf GTI MK7?

purchased for a 2016 tiguan ,fits fine but the filter is not as deep as the stock one. a good inch shorter. is that the way its made ?

Yep! It's all fine with that, this is the point of the filter (it's finer), if it fits fine in the intake box you're good to go! Just clean it every 3000-4000km and don't forget to apply the special oil on it before instalation.
