How does auto on off work?

Not sure if you are asking how it works, or how well it works. Basically, once there is insufficient light falling on the the solar panel to charge the battery, the light switches on, it then switches off once the panel sees enough light on it to resume charging. It works well, we have had ours in the Garden since January and still working well.
