Our family enjoys the base game of Carcassone. This expansion is actually 3 different expansions. You can use any combination of the three that you like. Good value for the money.

Lástima que no haya llegado a estar editada en castellano. Juntamente con la expansión 10, son las únicas que no tengo en el mismo idioma. Una pena. Aunque es independiente del idioma, y rebuscando por internet puedes encontrar la traducción de las reglas.

The BEST extension. It's hard to remember playing without it. Turns the calm paced strategic game on its head with a dragon popping out of a volcano and stomping across the landscape eating meeple! There's still strategy to be had but it disrupts the stronger players tactics so that the others get more of a chance and the addition of princesses that can boot knights out, the protective fairy and magic portals for claiming unclaimed features all make this a wonderful twist on a great game. Go for it!

This is a good expansion to have. There are 2 different ways to start the game, with the big city 2-tile starter spot, or with the new River that’s included, that splits into 2 different branches. The added Shrine played like a cloister, adds an interesting way to finish cloisters, or prevent others from getting points for their own. I really enjoy playing with the King and Robber bonuses. Adds another big bonus gain (well 2 of them) for everyone to strive for. If you’re pretty serious about Carcassonne and adding some more complexity to the game, get this expansion. And if anything, if you want to build a big long river, add this river to the regular (or more) river expansions to create a unique river world.
