Will this clean the ink stains that have stained my lamy safari? In particular I have baystate blue stains on my pen in the plastic

The Noodler’s “Baystate” inks are formulated with a basic pH (or a “Bayse” pH, hence the name). This contributes to the unique, intense vibrancy of these ink colors, but it also causes them to interact chemically with pen materials in unexpected (and potentially undesirable) ways. Meanwhile, Lamy’s ‘Safari’ pens are made with ABS plastic — which is a cheaper to produce (and less expensive for consumers) but less resilient than other, higher-quality pen materials like acrylic resin. You can *try* using a weak bleach solution to clean the BSB stains, but I’d be worried that it’d just ruin the pen even more. Sadly, your pen might just be stuck like that forever D: What you *could* do, though, is just go back in time, and do some research on Baystate inks before you even use them (probably a safe bet to look up ANY Noodler’s ink you want to use; they can get pretty kooky). Otherwise, it sounds like you just became *the latest* person to learn the Baystate Lesson the hard way: set aside a less important pen that’s expendable/ easy to replace, and use that as a dedicated BSB pen.

Is it safe to use on montblanc 149?

I have used on my 1920 lever filler rubber sac Watermans, German Kawaeco piston fillers and my Agatha Christie author series Montblanc (essentially a 149 with bells and whistles). Use as directed although I usually put 3 to 4 drops in 50 mls of water. I let the pen soak and then draw up the solution into the piston filler tube compartment and let stand for 10 to 20 minutes then twist the barrel end piece to empty the compararme the do again following the same procedure. Flush with clear water several times. Then let the pen sit with minimal tissue paper around nib to draw the water solution from the nib and ink filler system. Would let stand overnight. There are directions you can follow. My pens work well and I see no damage from the solution. The contents of the solution are reported in the question and answer section for this product. Enjoy

I received the kit and the instructions say to draw the fluid into the pen. How do you do that? is there a missing piece to the kit?

You fill the 50ml tube with water (I generally fill to about 25-30 ml) and add a drop or two of the flush. You then use the tube to fill and flush your pen just as you would bottled ink.
