JOBY GorillaPod Original Tripod for Point and Shoot Cameras up to 325g (11.5 oz).

I don't know if the tripod I received was defective or if they are all like this, but there are several issues I found with this product.Firstly, it is not very stiff so any recording I do drifts away and nothing is still.Secondly, the individual pieces of the legs are quite weak and when I attempt to form them to grip a surface, the joints will pop off without effort.Finally, the tripod has a 'locking' mechanism at the top, which is supposed to keep the piece that holds the camera or phone stable in whatever position you choose to lock it in. My tripod does not lock at all, regardless of what the setting is on. Again, I don't know if my tripod came to me busted or if they are all like this.All in all, I am disappointed in this product and regret not returning it when I had the chance.

Smaller than expected but that's not why I give it one star. The descriptions advertise it's ability to be used with dslr cameras. I have the sony a5100, which is pretty small, and the tripod can't hold it up. It falls to the side so it's basically worthless and I am very disappointed in my purchase. Additionally, the first ball hinge connection point comes out without much force at all and sometimes my camera falls off of it. Wanted to use this for vlogging while I'm on vacation but I clearly can't trust it to hold my camera. Will be searching for a different brand. Disappointed because I thought Joby was a leading brand in these flexible tripods.

I use this for my sony rx100 and so far it works pretty well. It's not AS stable as i'd like it to be, but for the price and size, it works pretty well if you are wrapping the legs around something sturdy. If you use it as a regular tripod to sit on a flat surface, you do have to make sure the legs are even...I've found that tipping can occur easily. While it does screw into my camera's tripod screw hole just fine, it still doesn't screw in as tight as I'd like. Even though I've screwed it all the way in, it still swivels around, just a bit..but not enough for it to come off. I mainly hold the tripod in my hand with the camera on it to do selfie views during videos so it works just find for that. For the price, I'd recommend...probably works great for really small compact cameras.

I bought this tripod for use mountain biking and taking self videos while deep in the woods. I love how light it is. I can throw it in my pack and it adds no weight. The thing is like a feather. What I don't like is the way the little sockets fit together in the legs tend to unsnap and become undone when moving it and wrapping it around objects. I tolerated this, but the final straw was when I pulled out the tripod after winter storage for use this spring mountain biking season and found a number of the socket ball leg joints (plastic) to be cracked. Once cracked they don't hold tight anymore and the tripod flops around. I'm going to try different brand.

I have heard many great things about the GorillaPod tripod. Perhaps I simply ordered too small/short of one for what I was hoping to do. To me, the legs did not have enough flexibility in bending and the little rubber strips around each ball did not sufficiently adhere the tripod to whatever upright surface I was attempting to use as a base. I was using it with a small point-and-shoot digital camera (a Canon Elph Powershot) so I don't think it was a "weight of the camera" issue. I wouldn't necessarily rule out buying a bigger Joby for some other purpose in the future, but for an everyday carryable one in a reasonable size, this one did not work out for me.
