Briggs Healthcare Vinyl Cushion Toilet Seat, 4"

I never before realized how low to the ground our toilets at home were until I returned from the hospital with our new baby. Immediately I was searching online for something to ease my pain and make it easier to go to the bathroom solo. The cushioning is comfortable but strong and supportive; I’m a larger woman so while I did sink a bit it still gave me the height I was looking for. It does narrow your “target” somewhat, so I kept wet wipes nearby for spot cleaning as needed. My partner wasn’t a big fan since he couldn’t lift the seat with the cushion attached, and the Velcro is strong (thank goodness) so it wasn’t a simple matter to just remove when he wanted to use the toilet. Luckily we have another toilet upstairs, but it’s something to consider if you share a single toilet with a partner who stands to use the toilet.

First things first, let's look at the velcro on the bottom. This is a 4" cushion, so when you raise the seat in order to access the velcro on the bottom, it pushes the cushion substantially forward. So if you have any intentions of securing this to your toilet seat, forget it, unless, of course, you want to take the seat off each time or have a seat with no top.Next, there is NO firmness to this whatsoever. It's like you're sitting on a cotton ball or something. A rubber balloon has more firmness than this thing. When you apply weight to it, it sinks so small you can't tell you're not just sitting on the material. That means the 4" in height becomes 4" in width and you may have to sit on it several times with very careful positioning just to try and keep the hole in the center from closing up.I returned this as it was not capable of performing its intended function.

It is well made however it quickly started to get missshaped when my mother sits. I have tried to tighten the velcro but the seats opens up creating an uncomfortable sitting position for her hips. I would not buy it again unless the product is changed to have a non slip material on the underside.

i had tried this before and didn't like it but was SO sore from sciatica pain, i decided to try it again but this time-i cut the velcro straps off-they're long and really don't fit the toilet seat right. at first, it seems high and pretty hard but it softens up and gets more cushy and it's easier to wash without those straps on it. for some reason, the toilet at my apt. was replaced with what i call 'the barbie doll toilet'...the seat is smaller and the toilet is higher-who invented this? i am 5'3" and never had THIS problem before on ANY toilet and i think it's what caused the sciatica in the first place..... my feet don't just touch the floor without bending in a position that make me hurt WORSE. i even put something in front on the floor that my feet can sit on comfortably and it helps. i wish someone would make an actual SEAT to replace this one instead of a cover-if they do-someone let me know-thanks

UPDATE 2024I purchased another 4" toilet cushion last week. This time the cushion has no support at all. It is useless since as soon as I sit on it it deflates completely. I weigh around 105 lbs so it is not a weight issue.I am trying to return this item and it is a major hassle.Normally you go thru amazon and it is fine. This time you need to go thru the company website and you can't even reach them by phone.Only email. I can not use this item.It is sad because the one I purchased a few tears ago was excellent and they have been great. But not this one.I am very disappointed in the cushion.This pillow topper for the elongated toilet has helped me to get rid of my horrible pain in my lower butt, and down my leg to the side of my calf. I could not walk for months. I thought it might be from spending so much time on the toilet seat last year. I had a very bad year of IBS and was on the toilet a lot. That is when the pains came on. I went to Dr's, PT, even got shots. Nothing helped. Finally decided in June to try using this pillow. What could I lose?It is now Sept, and 85% of the butt pain, the leg pain has gone away. I am able to walk and do things I have not done since a year ago.I will say I am getting a new one because I think the foam is getting a bit too soft, and I don't want to take a chance of putting pressure on my sciatic nerve again which might bring back the pain.I weight 104lbs so if someone is heavy, I don't know how long the pillow will last. I have no problem ordering a second or third one if I never get that pain back.Each person will have to make up their own mind. It certainly has helped me.

This is so squishy that you can't sit still on it. I felt very unbalanced. Also not much room to put your hand thru in front to wipe and no room in back for your hand.

I took a chance because this doesn’t have the greatest reviews but I am so thankful I bought this! I just had surgery and It made going to the bathroom much more comfortable and was so helpful. I’m still using it two weeks post op and will for a couple more months.
