4 racks- poor design, they fall over. The old original game had much better racks.

Q: How do you play? Not sure if this is the game I'm looking to get.

You choose 14 tiles , To begin with there is two ways to play the tiles down on the table to lay down you need at least three tiles in a grouping of either a run such as 9,10, 11, all the same color or in different colors the same number such as 5,5, 5, you must have at least 30 points to place the tiles on the table to begin ,after that you can add to those tiles and groups or you can play on opponents tiles, you can use tiles that have been played on the table with ones in your stack but you must always leave at least three tiles on the table in the groupings at all times, sets may only have one color of each number no duplicates of colors in sets. On your turn if you are unable to play on the tiles on the table you must draw if you can play you do not draw. There are two jokers that can be played during this game if they are on the table and you wish to use it you have to replace the Joker with the tile that it is being used for, then you can use it with your tiles. You can move the tiles around on the table as long as you always leave the groups with at least 3 tiles. Runs are always the same color Sets are the same number and only one color of that number.

Q: The tiles are made from what material?

I'm not sure, but they are cool and smooth to the touch. They also make a clickety-clack noise when you shuffle them, which is what I wanted. Very nice feel to them- not cheap plastic. I thought they would be thicker, similar to Dominos, but they are thin. However, that could just be my memory of playing with my parents' game as a kid. Regardless, this is a really nice set and I would recommend it.
