Gates 41184 Premium Engine Water Pump

Although this listing looks like you're going to get a bottom of the barrel water pump, this is a real Gates. Comes in the Gates cardboard box and includes the gasket. While from the picture it may look like you're getting a cheap china pump, this is the second best there is available, behind AISIN / OEM Honda. Considering those are $100 more than this, it's a no-brainer.

GOOD GATES PUMP FIT LIKE A CHARM

Fits fine on 2006 Acura MDX with 3.5L engine. Comes with the gasket (a custom shaped o-ring). The groove for the gasket has some V-shaped features that work well to hold the gasket in place. Did not need gasket sealer. Box stated that it was made in USA.If you're looking at replacing the water pump and timing belt, you might want to compare pricing with a kit. Kits with several combinations of parts are available. I ended up replacing the water pump, timing belt , belt tensioner, tensioner pulley, and idler pulley. (I also wrote a review on the Gates kit with the timing belt and two pulleys.)

It worked. Make sure you put it right and don't rush. Also, don't forget that you need to change the seal/gasket along with it.

Installed on 05 Honda Accord with 3.0l v6, Idler pully on this pump caused timing belt edge to fray due misalignment. Probable causes wasn't catalouged properly, vender misboxed product, mislabeled, idler pully pressed incorrectly and or wrong idler pully.

Was hoping to get 100,000 miles out of the pump. Not so much. Had to do complete timing pump/water pump replacement far earlier than i wanted at 50,000 miles and 4.5 years after replacing with gates 41184 pump.
