Solid Quality and Variety at a Very Reasonable Price
I'm not an artist, but I wanted to try coloring with colored pencils. I did some research before buying these so I could tell (hopefully) if I got a good product. I'm comfortable giving these 5/5 stars considering the price. They have excellent color variety, they don't crumble too easily, and they arrived in good condition. The wood smells nice, and and I don't see obvious knots or rings, so there seems to be a reasonable attention to overall product quality, even though I can see a faint seam on some of the pencils. I think the resulting colors are a little too waxy for them to be truly professional quality, but even laying down color as heavily as seemed reasonable, the cores didn't crack or leave too much powder, and I could continue to blend the colors. They do not feel scratchy or chalky. For an inexpensive brand, I think they have an impressively good formula that will be more than sufficient for all but the most demanding artists who will need to invest in pencils that cost about $2 per pencil and up. Even for those artists, this is a very reasonable way to get a selection of colors for shades they rarely need. The colors seem true to the core and cover paper very consistently. Given my lack of skill, I was still able to achieve a nice clean result without too much streaking. Overall, I think these leave very little reason to purchase more commodity brands. If these aren't to your liking, you'll need to aim for a brand like Prismacolor (Premiere or better), Faber-Castell, or Caran d’Ache, and prepare for a very steep increase in price per pencil.

Prismacolor dupe at budget price
Arrived quickly and the quality was great for the price. It's well packaged in bubble wrap and cardboard box for shipping. The pencils themselves are neatly stacked inside a tin container. Personally, I love the softcore and blend ability of Prismacolor, but didn't want to spend that amount of cash at this time. Upon looking for alternative softcore coloring pencils, I came across KALOUR. The amount of pencils (180pcs) and the price point ($37+tax) were very good. Upon using them to color in the provided color key, I did notice the core was soft, but not as much as a Prismacolor. So the smearing was almost non-existent but the color payoff was spectacular for the price-point. I did notice some colors were a bit streaky. Most noticeably the metallic, which is to be expected. They do come pre-sharpened to a flat tip. In order to reduce streakiness, make sure to file it or round out the tip on a separate piece of paper. While in use, I did vary the pressure and I can attest that the tips do not break easily under high pressure, but still apply the true color when less pressure is used. Overall, I decided to give this set 5 stars due to the quality at this particular price-point. I feel that this would be an amazing set for beginner artists on a budget or simple everyday coloring as the variety is very desirable. Every color is distinct so there's no worry of repeat colors that is typical for this price-point in artist supplies.

My wife LOVES these pencils.
She’s tried several Kalour products and found them to be very good quality, so she wanted to try these as well. She said they go down every bit as well as her expensive pencils do, with little effort. The colors are vivid, they go down smoothly and they have a good amount of pigment. There were very few crumbs and no chipping. The metallic pencils have a very good amount of sparkle to them, which didn’t show up as well in the pictures as she was hoping for. The colors blend well and she was pleased with their opacity. There’s a good variety of colors, in the regular pencils as well as in the metallics. The names and numbers are marked clearly on the barrels in silver and they can all be read very easily. She did say that the plastic trays were a bit flimsy, but that was literally the only thing she found less than optimal about the set. They were packaged very securely, shrink-wrapped and placed in a thick plastic bag, then placed in a snug fitting box. The exposed leads were protected with foam sheeting. Every one arrived in perfect condition. She’s planning on color sorting these in with the rest of her soft core pencils. She said that she “really, REALLY likes this set” and that they are “pretty awesome!” She also said she was surprised at how reasonable the price was.

Great quality pencils for the cost
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of these pencils. While they aren't as buttery smooth as Prismacolor colored pencils—which is understandable given the price difference—they still perform very well. I’d classify them as student-grade, but more suitable for art students than young children. They lay down color smoothly, blend nicely, and have a vibrant appearance, though they may lack the high pigment load of more expensive, professional-grade pencils. The color selection is solid, with a good variety and minimal overlap between shades. My set arrived in perfect condition—no broken tips or misplaced pencils. It also includes a swatch card, which is very helpful since the barrel color doesn’t always match the actual pencil color on paper. I appreciate that each pencil is labeled with both a name and number, making it easy to reference your swatch chart and find the exact pencil you need. Overall, the value for the price is excellent—these are great quality pencils for the cost!

The whole shipping process should be handled with more care as so many pencil got broken and it’s so frustrating when all you do is sharpen the pencils and you can’t use them to their full potential. The color range is great but doesn’t make up for the broken pencils
