Lovely, multi-stage toy
I love our Playmobil products. They rarely miss, and this is another great example of a well-thought-out toy. I actually hope to purchase a couple of them for our church's new children's wing.I love this item because it has the opportunity to span ages outside of its target 18 month-3 year range. We live in a rather small house, with four girls sharing a single bedroom, so multiple-stage toys are a huge deal to me (less clutter!)* I actually purchased this ark for my six-month-old daughter. She can't role play with it, obviously, but she can enjoy the bright colors of the set, and safely gnaw on the animals, which are solid and have no small pieces to pop off (maybe the elephant's tusks, but they seem very secure).* In a couple of months, she'll be able to put them into the ark or another container, and develop her motor skills with "fill-and-spill" play.* By the time she is 12-18 months old, she'll be able to carry this around with her. Since it doesn't have a ton of pieces, I think it will make for a great travel toy for our long drives to visit family.* I also have a 2 year-old, and I think that she will enjoy this toy for its intended purpose as a role-playing activity. She loves her big sisters' Playmobil castle, but some of the tiny pieces are just too difficult for her to handle.* I know my 4 year-old would love this as tubby time toy. The ark looks like it will float nicely, and it should be easy to keep clean and dry. I can't see any openings in any of the pieces that would allow water to enter them and cause mold issues.* My 6 year-old probably won't play with this by herself (not after its initial introduction, anyway), but she will enjoy using this toy to bond with her younger sisters. She's very caring, and I think she'll love being able to help the baby load the animals onto the ark.The ark seems very well constructed. I had no problems lifting the top off. I haven't tried using the ramp, as this is a Christmas gift, so I only played around with it long enough to make sure nothing was broken, and to remove all of the plastic packaging inside the box. Honestly, I'm not worried about the ramp staying up, because I don't think my kids will really use it anyway. They're more the type to yank the stairs out of their castle because they're in the way!The only disappointing thing that I found was with the way the animals are constructed. This is my first, personal purchase from the 1-2-3 line, and I expected the animals to be the solid, smooth seamed pieces of my childhood. Instead, they are made of two plastic pieces that are firmly clamped together like a clam shell. It's very sturdy, but does leave an unattractive and noticeable groove right down the middle of the animal. It's a minor thing, but still a bit irksome.

Fun Playmobil Noah's Ark complete with animals which store in bottom of the Ark
The media could not be loaded. I purchased this Noah's Ark for my ten month old granddaughter. She loves her Little People, so I thought that Playmobil 1-2-3 would be a good choice for her. She loves it. What I was surprised by was how much my grandson enjoys it, too.He is on the far side of the suggested age range at 3.5 years old. He plays with it as much or more than she does and is currently trying to get her to play with him. We'll see how that goes. She is at the grabby, it's mine stage. What is great about the toy is that there are two of each animal (of course!) and they can each play with one at the same time. The toy is so well made that I am sure that it will last for a long time. It is also great for the kids to be able to act out the Bible story that they learn in Sunday School. In the video that I will include, my grandson is saying, “Wait for me, wait for me” as he sends the animals up the ramp into the Ark.On top of it being such a quality toy, it is also cleverly made. The animals store inside the Ark when not in play and there is a handle at the top which allows the children to pick it up and go without fuss or muss. It also means that they can easily bring it to Nana and Papa's house and play with us, too.

One of our nicest toys
I LOVE that this floats! And none of the animals (or Noah and his wife) leak in water when they are submerged. The animals and Noah and his wife all fit very comfortably in the ark when not in use (the floor and bottom of the ark comes apart with two side snaps. The snaps are extremely sturdy and will not break. However, they are too hard for my 21 month old to undo or put back on her own. The carrying handle at the top of the ark is also very sturdy, and makes the carry-along aspect totally possible. All in all, this was a WONDERFUL purchase. I love playmobil, and the 1.2.3. series is perfect for the littles. I did take away the dove and bag of feed, since I thought these were a little too small for my baby when she was 15 months old and putting things in her mouth. But overall, this set is superb! I love that my daughter can get familiar with a bible story as she enjoys playing with her animal toys, in the bath or on the rug! My first playmobil set as a child was a floating speedboat, so getting my daughter her own floating playmobil set meant something extra special! Really happy with this purchase!

Favorite Toy
Our Playmobil 123 sets have been my daughter's absolute favorite toys for an entire year. Now two years old, she has literally played with them every day since she got them for a first birthday present. The Noah's Ark set is a pretty good choice, although not my very favorite set. The animals in the ark are surprisingly good for stacking -- we've been playing "circus" and balancing the giraffes, zebras, and lions on the elephants' backs. We also "feed" the animals quite a bit with the food bag and trough. Unless I'm doing something wrong, the ark won't float in the bathtub, but most of the animals and people do. With this set, I would warn you to watch out for the doves -- they are SHARP underfoot!Probably not all children will be quite as enthralled with the Playmobil 123 sets as mine, but I would recommend these for any toddler because:1. the people and animals make good security objects to take in the car2. the setting and characters are just right for all kinds of pretend play3. they're great for fine motor skills (standing them upright, getting them to sit, and even stacking some of them)4. they're fun and safe in the bathtub (and usually float!)5. you'd have to work pretty hard to get them stuffed in your mouth.
