Used these during an event to hear, while keeping conversations private. The issue is the PTT button on the cord gets locked, and you must disconnect the plug from the radio to cause the switch to disconnect. Tried many different radios, with that plug, and the same issue happens. Update May 31,2023… Working with the seller figure out had I a bad headset. They sent me another, and this one is working as described. I took apart the old one to find the PTT switch in-line had small defects which keeps the inside button down even if you release the outside button. A simple manufacturing issue. Overall for keeping communication in a nosying location or limiting others hearing conversations this is the best I have used. I like the ability to switched from left side mic to right side depending on how I’m feeling or the conditions while using the headset. I have Baofeng UV-5R & H7 & GMRS Pro-15, and TYT 8000D. This headset works great on all the radios with the Two Kenwood style plug. I have had good reports on my signal strength and voice over repeaters and during simplex communication. Even on the GMRS radio over GMRS repeaters the same reports. One extra suggestion, I bought the foam ear covering for headsets. Those make the ear cups more comfortable, helps with the heat and moisture. All in all this headset will offer you great usability in many situations. I look forward to using this headset in future community’s services my club supports, and just generally use in my home talking on repeaters keeping my wife happy not listening to all the conversations. Thank you to the seller for working with me to figure out the issue and the replacement. I will follow your other products in the future.. Mike - KD2DVC….

I didn't want to spend $100 for headphones for my UV-5R, so I gave these a shot. They work, I can hear pretty loudly from both earpieces, and the reported mic audio form the headset I'm told is no worse or better than the UV-5R's built-in mic. So for the few times I expect to need it, I think these'll do fine. In packing they seem to have got bent, so the let ear is tucked under a bit more than the right ear, which makes for an odd fit. Since these are hard plastic, and the head arc is baked into the plastic, there's little I can do except try and bed it the opposite way to straighten it out. The boom mic swings up out of the way just fine, and is bendable in all directions. Overall, the build fits the price- you're not getting $100 worth fo headphones for $20, but it does what it needs to do and cost me a fraction of the price of a "ham" headset.

EDIT- After 3 months, the audio quit. Transmit still worked but no sound. In talking with Angela at customer service, she was able to provide me with a new headset. Very pleased with their customer service! I bought this to use while cutting our 2 acres of lawn. I have it connected to a two-way on a MURS channel so that my wife can call me if she needs something, instead of yelling and waving her arms at me :-) The audio out of my Kenwood handie is BLASTING with this headset. The last headset I had, I couldn't even hear the radio decently. LOTS of audio power here and she tells me the mic on it sounds good as well. I have other Retevis products, they're pretty good products IMHO. Sure, they don't cancel out the noise from the mower very well, but for the price point, it's fine.

Really cheaply made. I you get what you pay for.

PTT works but in VOX mode, it transmits non-stop until switched back to PTT. Other reviewers have noticed this too. In a quiet room, I tried the lowest VOX setting on a Baofeng UV5R, a Kenwood TH-F6A and a Tytera MD380. In every case, it immediately transmits. A different headset I have works fine. One reviewer said he bought two and one of them actually works as it should. I guess you have a 50/50 chance of VOX working. :-/ Headset fit is uncomfortable too.
