this amplifier is perfect for my long cable problem
I think some people are disappointed when they buy an amplifier because that's not their real problem. TV reception problems are difficult - could be the antenna, cable connections, bad cables, too long cables, too many splitters, poor line of sight to transmission towers, or other causes. My problem is that I have an attic antenna and a very long cable run from the attic to the basement, where it is then distributed around the house from another distribution amplifier. I purchased this amplifier to use it close to the antenna to boost the signal through the long cable to the basement, to replace a 10 year old RCA amplifier that had failed. Based on previous experience (and experimentation), I need an FM trap - an amplifier without it does amplify but also creates noise on some channels. After some research online comparing amplifiers, I found that some other ones I considered sounded like they may have noise problems, but this one seemed to have consistent comments about low noise. The Eagle Aspen website was not really helpful. Without much information, I took a chance on this amplifier. IT DOES EXACTLY WHAT I NEED IT TO. The 25dB amplification matches my previous one, and this amplifier increased the signal through the long cable as I expected. The FM trap also prevents distortion, as I expected. I am fully satisfied with this unit. Some things to note that are different from what is shown here: (1) The power cord is shown as going directly into the amplifier. Instead, it comes with a separate transformer that steps the voltage down to 9V, so it's NOT a direct cord. (2) The image shown here says 4.5W, which is rather high. The unit shipped is 9V 100mA, or 0.9W - this is excellent efficiency for the 25dB amplification! So these differences were ok with me.For my problem, this amplifier was the perfect solution - low noise, low power, and FM trap. If you have a different problem, this unit may or may not be the right solution for you. For me, I am a fully satisfied customer!

Works well for low signals but not very low signals.
For low signals with low strength, the amplier helps provide a strong stable signal. However, for signals with very low strength, it cannot overcome the low signal to noise ratio. It was very convenient with the power built in.

Doesn't Work
Guess this is not what I need for my TV signal. Previously, I had purchased Channel Master preamp, and it works great. I went to order a second Channel Master preamp, but they were out of stock, so I bought this instead, which was a mistake. Channels that are absolutely perfect with the Channel Master are constantly blipping in/out, freezing, and have major audio issues. But this product doesn't say "preamplifier," so it maybe I just bought the wrong item for the job, which is why I gave it three stars instead of one.

Does exactly what I need it to do
When I originally bought a splitter to hook up my TV, scanner, and weather radio, it didn't work. I had to resort to using an A/B switch and choosing between the TV and the scanner; the weather radio wouldn't get enough signal even if I hooked the antenna up directly.Of course, anyone with any sort of knowledge of how antennas and splitters work knows exactly why that didn't work. I wasn't one of those people at the time. After doing some research and exploring my options, I chose this distribution amplifier. Not only does it boost the signal enough to make up for my use of a 3-way splitter, it boosts the signal enough so that my weather radio can pick up a signal from the NWS station in Burlington. This was all I needed to make my original plan a reality.

A Good Amplifier....Not.
Did what I bought it for. I have an indoor OTA antenna which started losing signal locks intermittently after 3 months. It was like listening to a skipping record and forget close captioning. The amplifier it replaced had a higher dB rate but this gets all but a few of my distant stations. So I'm happy enough since I can get all of he major networks and PBS. Hopefully, this one lasts longer than the one which came with the antenna.UPDATE: It died within a week. Back to the drawing board.

6 month to replace
Bought this unit in July and by Christmas I need to replace it. It replaced one we had for years. When I first installed it we were receiving a few extra stations over the other unit we had when it was working. Was really happy with it, but now we are back to having a hard time pulling in even closer stations. Will buy from a different manufacturer to replace it.

Fixed My Issues!
I was having issues with lots of digital artifacts in my TV picture on several channels. A big part of the problem, is that I have 2 different transmitter locations in my area, that are separated by about 30 - 35°. If I pointed my antenna at 1 of the locations, I would get a clear signal on that half of the channels, and vice versa. I installed this amplifier in my distribution closet just before my splitter, which is about 70-80' of coax (RG-6 quad) from my antenna. I rotated my antenna to approximately half way between the 2 transmitter locations, and now all of my channels come in super clear with no digital artifacts. I have a Tivo Bolt, which has a signal meter built into the unit, and was able to fine tune my antenna direction using this meter. Also, based on the Bolt's signal meter, on average I gained 30 - 50% increase in signal strength on every channel.

Eagle Aspen antenna booster
The pictured silver one is one we originally had, one that arrived was totally different, blue in color, after reading several articles stating silver one worked better, sent blue one back and looked for silver one.

Great signal booster !
Worked for me ! Had a weak signal plus add the 100 feet cable length + splitter the farthest T.V barely got 6 out of 14 channels.Plugged it in before the splitter in the basement and all 3 T.V's get all 14 air channels in excellent digital quality.

Good buy
Gives good results for the price. No miracle but improves the number of channels available, depending on the antenna it is connected to. On an outside antenna, I get 7 more channels, while on a pancake indoor antenna, I get 2 more channels.

high noise rating
This amplifier has -8db in noise. I purchased this to see how it would do against the CM-3410 since this has 25db gain but took a risk since I couldn't find the full specs with noise rating anywhere. It actually ended up loosing some of the weaker channels I had, but since my mom needed an amplifier I didn't return it. She went from 3 to 26 channels, most of them being weather dependent but has about 4 new permanent channels. I paid about half price for open box but If paying full price I'd buy something else.

Doesn't Work
I ordered one of these to boost my TV reception. The reviews were mixed but I was hopeful. It arrive quickly enough and , excitedly, I hooked it up. It didn't work. I went from 12 channels to 0.It has an input and an output for the antenna and a socket for the power adapter... I don't know how I could have hooked this up wrong?! I tried switching the FM trap... nothing. I even reversed the input and output thinking that they might have mislabeled this thing.Ok, so, fool that I am, I ordered a replacement from Amazon. This one arrived in only 1 day... wow!I hooked it up... nothing...For now, I am going back to 12 channels with no booster... rather than 0 with this one. I am sending them both back and will continue to look for something that works.sincerely, Felix Daske
