Try these first, read on to findout why.
Bought these along with a better advertised well known name brand. These win! It is all in the locking/adjusting mechanism. This brand has a more heavy duty system that is intuitive and more attractive. The laces themselves are of equal quality. I do highly recommend this product for athletes, active lifestyles, anyone with a mobility issue or other medical impairment, the elderly and anyone who has ever suffered the horror of an untied shoe lace in a public restroom. Seriously that last reason alone is well worth the cost of admission. I wish I had tried these years ago, they make my shoes and winter boots more wearable. Snug but never over tight, comfortable but not loose.

Elastic Laces with the Best Lace Locks and Most Holding Force
I especially like the lace locks that are supplied with these. The design is very compact, yet grips the lace very firmly. The laces do not slip! If you have trouble compressing the button enough while installing the laces, place the lock, button side down, near the edge of a table; and press down on the back of the lock while you insert the lace. This method gives you a bigger surface to press against, and you can just put your weight on it instead of squeezing it. You may have to put some pressure on the lace or turn it slightly as you insert it, but it will go in. The excellent holding force of this lace lock is well worth the slight effort required to insert the laces into the lock. Please do not complain about this slight inconvenience. The YSA laces used to have this same excellent lock until the manufacturer responded to complaints and switched to the lock used on Lock Laces, which is very poor for holding force. To install the end clips, put the cut lace ends through the hole, and press them into the toothed cavity of the wider end, with the lace ends touching the stop at the end of the cavity. Then press the narrower end into the wider end until it latches.

Great look, hard to install
I usually use the ones from Lock Laces, but these were solid black, and that appealed to me. I think they'll be fine, but I really struggled to put them on my shoes. The holes for shoe laces on my Hokas are rather small, so I had to use a tool to open them up a bit before I could put the laces through. The really hard part, however, was putting the laces through the device with the logo. It took a LOT of pressure to squeeze it enough to put the laces through. For the first shoe, I had to have my husband press while I pushed the lace through enough to catch it with a jewelry plier and pull it the rest of the way out. For the second shoe, I bit down on the device and got the lace through. I've put Lock Laces on several shoes. I've never had to struggle like this. I like the way they look, but it's not worth the effort. Maybe I got a particularly difficult pair; I don't know. But that's my review.

Perfect for Senior Citizens
I will soon be 72 and find it very difficult to tie shoes. These are the perfect solution. I'm still in the process of adjusting them to that perfect fit so that I can slip them on and off without having to tie them at all. I've used these for years and they really are a blessing. These are well made, easy to shorten and have a good elasticity. I feel they should last for quite a while.(Update: since my original post I have unlaced the laces on these shoes and relaced them in the standard "criss-cross" lacing pattern. They are now much more flexible and comfortable.)

A 50% difference in my shoe's comfort!
So far, I have bought three pair of these, because the first pair was so good I couldn't help myself. Now I know that we all don't need ANOTHER review, but again, I couldn't help myself! :)I have been looking at these for awhile now, and it was only the other day that I decided to try them, I'm glad that I did. Not only did these work, they work very well. The FIRST PAIR (white) was for a brand new pair of Adidas walking shoes, they felt O.K., but with these, it made them REALLY comfortable! I walked on my treadmill and it made quite the difference. To say I was impressed, well, I was.I'd rate the comfort in these shoes as a 6 out of 10, (with 10 being best) but, it's the shoe, not the laces, I think, I'll get back to you on that if I find something different. The SECOND PAIR I bought was for an older pair of "tennis shoes" (that's what we call call them in Texas) that were really still very nice, even though they are probably around 15 years old. I rarely wear them, only to run out real fast, or something, the reason was that I bought them a size too small. I wear a 9-1/2 and these were a size 9...Anyway, they kind of hurt my feet if I wore them too long, hence why I rarely wear them, so after I put on my new GREY color shoe laces!(A guy in a Review above me complained because there were no grey colored ones, well, they do have them)These laces made such a HUGE difference that it was at least a 50 increase in comfort, I can only guess that since they were slightly too small, these stretch laces allowed my foot to expand horizontally, hence my newfound comfort. I just walked 30 minutes on my treadmill and they were perfect! I now not only have a comfortable shoes, I actually gained a new pair of shoes! :)I would rate these a 9 out of 10, I'd give them a 10 but I don't have enough use to really rate them. I love 'em though! So, today my THIRD PAIR arrived, they are for my hiking boots (that I never hike in), I just wear them everywhere. While the laces were very comfortable, this pair did not make me scream with joy, I liked it, a lot, but it was not a huge difference.I'd rate these at a 8 out of 10, again, I am unsure of the longevity, but my initial trial is that these are going to be good. The GOOD THING though is, I can slip on, and off, ALL of my shoes with ease, and that to me is a really good thing.I read a lot of complaints about how the snap closure doesn't work well, I found that to not be true in my case. You need to understand how they work, then you can make them work. You need to make sure that the lace is nowhere in the way of the snap, if it is, it won't close properly. Also, if you screw up, and I did, you can undo the snap by using a ball-point pen or something semi-pointed that is not sharp that you can poke into the end of it, that releases it. You can then try snapping them again, it ought to work fine. It makes an audible CLICK! when snapped correctly. For the people that lose them, I would almost bet that they never had them snapped correctly in the first place.Makes sure that you do your part correctly because these seem to be made very well and I can sure see how someone that isn't good at these things could have trouble. I had a little trouble on my first one, so I can relate. One more thing. I have also read Reviews where people say they they BROKE while tying them. Broke? Tying them? You don't need to tie them, you rarely need to pull on them if you install them correctly. These are designed to be a looser fit than a regular shoelace, and, they DO NOT need tying, not even a little bit. Look at the pictures, that will show you what you need to make yours look like. The way I have mine done there will be no way that I can ever break my laces, there are no knots, not tangles, no nothing to make it ever snap or break. If you adjust yours quite a bit I can see that wear can happen, but that would take a long while, I would think.Just something to think about. :)I know this is long, probably no one will ever read it, but In felt I needed to say how well these are! :)I'll be back for a report on how well they did after some time, just to make sure that I'm not giving credit if they are not what I said they were..

Perfect for kids who can’t tie yet
My grade 1 son has grown out of Velcro shoes but can’t tie yet. I bought these after reading the reviews and can only say good things about them. They were easy to put in and my son says he really likes them. They haven’t impacted him negatively playing sport at recess or kicking balls. He finds them easy to put on and tighten on his own. Plus, everyone tells him how cool they are so he’s pretty pumped with that. Will definitely buy again.

Poor Design
Would have been good if the end clips did not break open (after the return period) and so I just had to tie the end laces together – it no longer looks “finished”. I tried putting the end clips back together and clamp them but they just didn’t hold. Wasn’t just one defective pair – I bought 3 pairs and it eventually happened to all three so either a design defect or poor quality control. Pity, otherwise these would have been what I was looking for.

Great Value for the money
This product is very cheap, so I was bracing for disappointment when they arrived. To my surprise not only is it well packages, and has instructions that are readable, but the quality is quite exceptional.

Very good, but not for skateboarding
It’s very comfortable and very nice. I think it’s a life change. However, I ride a skateboard, and it got damaged too quick. It’s quite fragile. If you’d like to use it for running, or just any sport that doesn’t have a grip tape, I totally recommend this product. Easy to setup and super easy to use. And most of all? It’s very comfortable.I loved it!

The end clasps came off from day one making these useless
I bought these for my 9 year old son who never bothers to undo his double knot laces so this seemed like a better solution. I installed them and literally from the first day he wore them - the end clasps pulled off. This was NOT because he was pulling from the clasp - after reading other reviews I made sure he knew to pull only on the laces part and not the end clip. Even when I was helping him with them - the end clasp pulled off. Absolutely useless and can not be returned. Am now buying the Xpand laces instead - which also come with a money back guarantee!
