High quality, well built, very good value at this price
I'm impressed at the high quality of this tofu press, especially considering the very reasonable price. The materials feel top notch, and everything fits together perfectly.I used it for the first time tonight and it worked well. I can't say it worked perfectly because the tool and the chef work together as a team. It was my first experience, so I think I could have done better. It's hard to get a block of tofu out of an aseptic package intact, and as I usually do, I broke off a corner. Even though I replaced it, when I pressed the tofu block in this press, it (not surprisingly) pressed better on the non-broken side. On the broken side, it didn't compress as much, since the broken piece provided less resistance to the press.Another tip: when I put the tofu in the press, I immediately cranked the spring pressure all the way down. I ended up pressing the tofu for at least an hour. It certainly squeezed out a lot of liquid, but the tofu block was fractured in many places. The next time I use it, I will start by keeping the spring at the top and will compress it for 15 minutes or more, then slowly increase the spring pressure until it's all the way down, maybe for an hour or more. I suspect that slowly and gradually increasing the pressure will result in less fracturing. It really does remove a lot of liquid! My tofu block looked like it was half as thick.I think this is a great product, especially at this very reasonable price, and I'm happy with my purchase.

Does what it's supposed to, does it well, easy to clean
This is one of those purchases where you might wonder if you really need one more thing in the kitchen that really only has one job. In this case however I was tired of making some sort of pressing contraption with whatever containers and weights I had lying around. And sometimes (most of the time) I forget I need to press tofu until it's too late to do a good job. This is easy to use, and easy to clean. It's sized to fit any of the commercial tofu products you are likely to find in your local grocer store, so using it takes no more than drop in the block, close the lid, and start applying pressure. I also like the feature that allows me to drain liquid without opening or disassembling the press. My usual process is to start pressing, come back in 10 minutes to drain, and increase the pressure a bit. Repeat until done. There have been some other comments about the press cracking the tofu and I think that's what happens when too much pressure is applied to quickly. This is effective at getting the water out in a short time, so I haven't found that it really takes extra time to press in a couple of stages. It's still faster and more consistent than anything I'd made myself. The fact that there is an extra lid to use it as a marinating containers is a good feature as well; anything that prevents me from having to wash an additional item is a win in my book. The materials of construction seem sturdy and well made. I haven't had it long enough to evaluate durability over time, but from what I can see I don't anticipate any issues.

Well designed, useful, and easy to use
Nothing flashy about this well designed and good-looking kitchen tool, but it is easy to use and easy to clean. What more can one ask for?Of course, durability and longevity (i.e., and the related "value") are very important issues for all consumer products, and since we've been using this tofu press for less than 3 months, we cannot address this issue (thus a 4-star instead of a 5-star review, sorry). We find this kitchen tool very useful, especially since our favorite big-box store only sells a 4-pack (of 1 lb packages) of an organic "medium firm" tofu. Using this tofu press provides additional uses for the tofu (by creating a very firm tofu block).A couple of minor issues:(1) BEFORE opening the lid, be sure to "dial down" (release as much as possible) the spring pressure on the lid (a step that becomes "obvious" once you have opened the lid before first dialing down the spring pressure).(2) When cleaning after use: One may (should?) try to avoid getting the enclosed metal spring wet (though vent holes are there), and/or if the spring and its housing are washed, make sure they are thoroughly dried before storing (and that dry time is usually very long). Possibly, this issue of the spring and its plastic housing should lower the "cleaning" item to 4 or 3 stars?

Super good tofu press and marinade container
I had another “clamp top” tofu press and getting the top on took 2 adults to wrestle it to submission - it had to go! I tried this one and it worked GREAT! Easy to clamp top to base, no wrestling needed! Also no finger pinching - iykyk! The twist handle on top was simple to use, effectively pressed tofu well. I love the grid pattern on the easy lift out platform the tofu is on - my cut cubes were like works of art! Also love that you can marinate right in the press by removing the platform. Can’t beat an easy to use, effective and multifunctional kitchen tool!

Great gadget
I love this tofu press. It has been a consistently used kitchen accessory for a number of years now. It's easy to clean and is user friendly. Although you could press tofu in other various ways, this item saves time. I also like that the tofu is evenly pressed.
